2017 paint peeling off

As someone who used to be in the shady bodyshop/auto biz, SELL your fixed Taco RIGHT NOW.

Because of the repaint, you will get dinged on resale at come places. Carmax for example paint meters all their cars here, and right away they will reject this from different paint thickness.

Ride the high resale train from chip shortage and get out of this one, not all used car places paint meter (amazingly), and don't buy another white Japanese vehicle. Whatever paint all these Japanese manufacturers are using is not holding, this is happening on Honda's too.

 

I have the Exact same problem in the Exact same spot on my Super White Limited Tacoma 4x4. Have you had any luck. So far, they are telling me there are no recalls and they won't do anything.

 

WOW! Two to three months later Toyota have not done anything! Luckily I catch my before the 30 days return policy expired. I guess I like trouble bc instead I got a brand new 2021 Super White ....

I have the same issue with my white 2016 Tacoma. Peeling on hood, above windshield and around window frames. Just talked to Toyota Corp. Customer Service again today. They just blew it off like they did two years ago.
Criminal! They wouldn't fix the missing module for the towing package located behind the glove box either.

 

Had the issue around the rear driver window on my 2018 TRD Sport. One day it looks fine and the next day it just peeled off and continued. Every time I called corporate I was given a somewhat different response, including “some VINs are being covered” but no explanation beyond that. I got tired of looking at it and just traded for a new 2022 ORLB in Lunar Rock.

 

My Barcelona Red 17 Tacoma is starting to have the paint raise on top of the passenger door. Its still very minor. I took it to the dealership and they said it wont be covered because my truck is now out of warranty.
My Tacoma is kept in the garage and parked during the winter under a cotton car cover. It also has 31000 miles on it. This truck is kept in spotless condition and there is no excuse for this to be happening. I cant imagine what it would look like now under normal driving conditions.
This is not normal wear and tear. My mistake was waiting until spring to address this with the dealership when I first noticed it in the fall when the truck was being parked.
Don't get me going about Toyota with my 13 Sienna and also how much trouble I had with them ordering replacement parts for my Tacoma when I hit a deer with this truck last year. I recently bought a new Mazda CX5 after owning mostly Toyota's since 1989. Toyota builds great cars and trucks but their customer service sucks.

 

Can you get a picture of the area? I would think that a couple of emails to Toyota CC'd to the likes of Jalopnik with hundreds of Tacomas with peeling paint and then media dumped on their social media pages is the direction to go at this point.

Some were built in Mexico as well. Haven't heard much about the white paint on 4R's built in good ole Japan.

2018 Taco, I contacted Toyota corporate and the gave me the standard response of GFY. Happy to join a class action lawsuit.

 

I have a 2017 Tacoma Limited with 17K miles and the right front fender is flaking just at the top edge, can't see it when hood is down.
This is very frustrating to say the least.

 

2017 Tacoma Offroad LB only 47k miles, same paint issues JUST STARTED. Dealership said it would o ly be covered in the 3 yr 36k mi warranty.

 

Photos of my paint peeling issue on the 2017 Super White TRD Off-Road. It started during the extended warranty and Toyota called it "cosmetic" and would not cover it. It started happening on the other rear door this year. I called Toyota directly and they brushed me off. This is, so far, only happening on the rear doors. It's obviously defective paint and it's insane that Toyota is not acknowledging it. I would like to be added to your class action lawsuit if possible.

 

I have a 2016 MGM with 35k. It gets parked in the garage. It is peeling at the edge of the windshield side of the hood.

 

You owners need to start parking these peelers at your purchasing dealership areas and let the buying public be made aware of it

 

I have a 2019 Super White Tacoma with 14,000 miles on it. I have the peeling paint issues at the rear window but also15-20 spots on it where it looks like my clear coat is coming off. Each time I wash it I find more problem spots. My Toyota dealership is giving me the run around with no answers for over two months now. Anyone with clear coat issues?
