Hey folks, I hope to soon be fulfilling a longtime dream of owning my first Tacoma. I'm in the process of negotiating a price with the dealer and it's been a long haul. Can I get a sanity check on my offer price?

    2017 Off-Road Access Cab
    TRD Beadlocks
    Skid Plate
    Premium tech pkg

    $37,400 -- pre taxes/D&H.

Dealer is pushing hard on $37,838, with a line about how they rarely come down in price on Tacomas.

Thanks, hopefully I'll soon be joining the conversation instead of lurking.

Look at the Stickie Thread above that shows the Invoice and MSRP, should give you some bargaining power and there is another thread on What are you Paying for your 2017.

Look up what it invoices for. Ask to see if from the dealer if you are unsure of your numbers. Right now I am contemplating getting a 17' TRD OR Double Cab 4x4 with premium tech, no jbl, with door sill and floor mats. MSRP is $38833, I am in Pittsburgh and the best offer I got was $38392 OTD price, everything included. 7% sales tax here. So that converts to about a 9% or so off MSRP price. I missed out on an extra $1k off though. Toyota just announced to Dealers on Monday that if you had inquired with a dealership about a Tacoma before the 28th of Jan, and you took delivery of it by yesterday, they would give you an extra $1k off. So, I could have even got a better deal.

So sounds to me like they are not really dealing at all. You can get $2k off msrp around here without even negotiating. I put 3 dealers up against each other and kept going back and forth. So that show I got the good price. Try that tactic out. Also, tell them you arent afraid to travel 4+ hours. Look up 300+ miles on Autotrader, find a deal that is a min of $2k off, send an mail to that dealer, get the lowest price they will go in the email, then tell your dealer to match it or beat it to earn you business.
