Ok everyone, so I’m hoping for some help here with a few questions.
As the title reads I have a 2017 sport with all factory suspension.
Here’s where I might ask some dumb questions.
I’m wanting tires and rims and set on 285/70 tires with 17’s. I’m wanting the tires to come out at least to the fender or an inch past but am confused on which offset to get.
Once I know what size to get I obviously will need to lift the truck and gonna go with 3inF/2inB but with getting that specific size tire with the exact lift will I need to replace my control arms? I’ve been told yes and I’ve been told no. Watched videos on YouTube, went to local off road shops and even called extremeTerrain where each answer has been answered differently.
Would replacing the control arms and struts with the off roads UCA and struts help with the lift?
Please someone shed some light and help a guy out lol

I have the exact setup except I'm running a 265/75 tire with a 1.5 inch lift.

    What I would recommend:

    Tires: 285/75/16 for 16" wheel or a 285/70/17 for a 17" wheel
Wheels: Any wheel with -12 offset if you want an inch of poke
Suspension: At least 2.5 in the front to clear the 285s without major rubbing.

Aftermarket UCAs are highly recommended for lifts above 3 inches

    here’s mine

    tires: BFGoodrich KO2 265/75/r16
    Wheels: RRW RR5-S 16x8 -12 offset
Suspension: Fox 2.0 Performance Coilover Shocks

1.5 inches of lift in front
1 inch of poke from the tires

@brandon78lusch thanks for the reply! It most definitely helps out a lot. I ended up going with the 285/70/17. I wanted to go with a bigger tire. Are you still running stock UCA’s or aftermarket? Any suggestions on brands if so? Your truck looks really good for running 265’s with a 1.5 lift.

    I know how challenging it can be to find the right wheel/tire/suspension setup, took me a long time looking at other Tacoma builds but this is what I decided on;

    • 17X9 SCS SR8 (-10 offset)
    • 285/70 17 BFG All-Terrain T/A KO2
    • Bilstein 6112/5160
    • Icon AAL Kit
    • Icon Delta Joint UCA's

Tires extend out slightly (an inch or less) and there was no rubbing at all with factory UCAs! Handled great too. Later, I had the Icon Delta Joint UCA's installed and another alignment and THEN it started rubbing so I removed the front mud flaps. Now only occasional rubbing on really tight turns so I may trim the fender flares a bit, an easy mod.

I will say that the alignment after the Delta Joint UCA changed the Toe and Caster angles closer to spec which is most likely why it now rubs. More than likely I would have been fine without the UCAs so I would say thats an optional component, at least on this setup.

@brandon78lusch @AusRunner than you guys for the help. I’m sure I’ll be shunned for doing so but this is my daily driver. I work in the city so spending $1k or more on suspension just wasn’t in the cards. I went with the freedom off-road UCA’s a torch 3F/2B lift kit and some 285/70/17’s with a -12 offset and I’m in love once again.
