Tailgate latch breaks and gate won't open, faulty wire harness causing all dash lights to light up, bad design on rear doors( don't open very far), cabin pressure making it hard to close the doors without letting a window down.

Thanks for letting me know about this, I can cross them off my list of possible vehicles. Lets see who is left to chose from....hmmm....well I guess I need to make a new list, every manufacture out there has an issue of some sort, they all suck. Well I guess I will have to check out bicycle forums to see what one has no issues.

Can you help out the less mechanically inclined with some acronym help. What is LCA?

As I continue to mention it is reasonable to point out these quality control issues because it is quite ridiculous and abnormal for Toyota. However as the other posters have mentioned every manufacturer is doing this same nonsense. The only thing that matters is controlling costs and hitting production/sales numbers to please Wall Street. Quality, longevity and pretty much anything else we desire as consumers takes a big backseat or isn't even considered at all.

Until enough people demand that it change by voting with their money it won't change either and will probably get worse.

With the same entune system I have in my 16 but without the rear diff howl, creaking dash, delayed r to d shift, broken side mirror interior tabs, howling control arms, etc. may be a decade old but has proven reliability, the turd gen has yet to prove itself and so far a betting man would say unlikely.

So my howling rear dif that there is no fix, I plugged the holes and tsb done on tranny, my side mirror interior piece broke for no reason which all of these I mentioned highlighting the build quality compared to my 15 that had NO issues. But please continue your fan boy ignorance. I've owned and modded 5 of these trucks all gens so not new to them and the very clear slipping Toyota quality.

Do you think other manufactures are producing as good of quality now as they were 5 years ago? 10 years? 20 years? As I watched the computer industry and now the cell phone world, things were built to last and be able to repair when broke. Well some where down the line some one figured out that Americans want the newest and shiniest stuff, there fore we don't need to build shit to last. We just need to build shit, make it the newest, shiniest and loaded with more tech than anyone needs and in two years, three for the cheap bastards, the consumer will buy again.

I am very aware of this, but I have been a loyal Toyota customer because of the quality. My 15 had better build quality than my 16 that's only a one year difference. If build quality wasn't important to me and most here we would have bought a ram, ford or Chevy.

If you go looking for issues, you're probably going to find something with any new vehicle. If the problems are driving you crazy, trade it in. I know I wouldn't continue to drive a new vehicle that I constantly refer to as a lemon. It would be like staying married to someone who drives you nuts because you don't want to pay for a divorce.

Oh I support yota because they have a history of being able to beat the snot out of them and they keep going. Quality has always been a reason. The tacoma manual has got to be the funnest truck I have ever driven. Just like a VW in my mind, a blast to drive, but also think they showed it's all about the dollar. I wouldn't go as far as to say most would have bought a ram, ford or chevy.

If your buying something to throw away one would buy it cheaper i.e. a Colorado, ram 1500 etc. as you alluded to. Toyotas cost more because of the perceived quality.
