151 out of 393 in this poll, if you are familiar with statistics, given how many people are TW members, etc vs not that are owners. That's a good percentage. I.E. there are 10000 TW 3rd gen owners and 160000 3rd gen owners total, so far those surveyed here is 38%, meaning that 38% of those not here probably have the same issue if they even are educated on how to find it or are aware of it, so based on statistics and math, 61000 owners of the 160000 with problems is hardly a few.

You clearly don't understand math and the error right there in your logic, its a poll, 38% reported a complaint/issue, the other 52% did not report a compliant making your logic false. You are also assuming that every Tacoma owner is on TW or that every TW member has even seen a rear diff thread to be aware of the issue in the first place. But please continue.

Wonder if that guy works for Toyota. He spends a lot of time trying to dismiss everyone's reported issues here.

If more people buy and then start complaining then yes that gets attention. Consumer Reports, national highway safety, consumer protection agency. More people stand up to Toyota the more likely hood shit gets fixed for those already in the shit.

No one buys, investors pull out go else where, Toyota wakes up and then does something, how long will that take? Just saying

I wouldn't agree with the 38%, and here is why. In today's word, something is broke or doesn't seem right, what do you do? Google..enter in howling noise, Tacoma making noise at 45 miles an hour, ect...

You end up here, and then start talking and jump on the polls.

And then there is the trucks that there is no issue with, they don't google noises POS, or anything and they DON'T end up here and are not part of the survey. There fore you sample is biased and would not support the numbers if your were able to truly poll all taco owners.

Oh one last thing, how many people with multi accounts were part of the survey. To many possibilities to stand by that 38% of new tacos have this issue.

That being said, any one with the issue should contact Toyota, and any consumer organization they can. Toyota has stood behind their product in the past, might have been pushed, so let's get them to keep standing up.

Frankly I don't think that is always true. While it's not the perfect example, I will use it here - that being restaurant or hotel reviews. Go to Yelp, Google Reviews, TripAdvisor, Zomato, booking.com etc. You'll see many of the people who post reviews have a lot of positive things to say and are not overwhelmingly negative. Same goes for some other services like the tire shops and carpenter I researched. Not everyone goes to these sites to bitch about their crappy experience.

An MIT paper stated that most customers go online because (1) they are victims of a “double deviation”; and (2) they feel betrayed.” A “double deviation” is defined as a product or service failure, followed by a series of failed resolution attempts. 96% of online complaints follow a double deviation.

There are a significant # of people who post their positive experiences with their truck on these forums as well.

If you have any hard data or sources that prove me wrong I'm open to reading them.

I take it you didn't read my other post. The poll has more than just those that come here to research the issue, 38% of the 100% that were surveyed, there were another 52% that reported no problem. So sample is based on all Tacoma owners that are here and viewed the thread, whether they had problems or not. Clearly again, you and the other member are not familiar with statistics and math, this is a common practice in any manufacturing process, politics, business, etc. You take a sample size, like we did in that thread, consisting of a population (Tacoma owners) find a number and use that to extrapolate. Not sure why this is rocket science for some. So given the sample here and results, 38% of Tacoma owners whether on TW or not most likely have a diff howl. That is just math.

Your second argument is highly speculative and unlikely, claiming that there are a bunch of multi-account owners with an agenda to report an issue, where that seems far less likely than those reporting or not reporting an issue. If this were the case the numbers would be skewed towards more with the problem than without as you see evident in the poll results, 52% reported no issue.

And finally most of us have, a few have had a diff replaced only to have the issue come back or were told its a characteristic of the truck.
