2017 SR5 no tow hitch

So when I did a build when the 2017 was still available to build and price on Toyota's website it listed that all 4x2 V6 auto's came with a tow package. However when I look at mine I have no tow hitch and cannot find a part number to add one from Toyota.

Little back story when I purchased my Tacoma it had 4800 miles on it from the dealer and was "missing things" such as no floor mats and no covers for the boxes in the bed. I believe the truck did have a tow hitch and that the same person who removed the other parts removed it as well. Is there any way to tell if I do have the Tow Package, which I believe it does and if it does is there a factory tow hitch or would I have to go to the after market?

 

Look under the hood, if there is a small radiator near the grille, you have the tow package.

 

You should also be able to look up your VIN on Toyota's website and it will list all the options on your truck.

Also, at the bottom of the radiator you will find a long cylendrical cooler for the tranny, and behind the carpet in the side fender wall on the driver’s side is the prewired ebrake harness for towing.

 

Well that was uneventful, no tow package.

 

Then aftermarket hitch and wiring will be your best bet.

 

If you have a Tow Package in your truck.. It should have tow hitch on it..

I have 2017 SR5 4x2 with Tow hitch..

 

I believe all 2018 V6 came with tow package but not all 2017.

 

Per Toyota site, my 2017 March build reflects a Tow Package as a option.

 

Correct all v6 2018 have tow package.

 

Also I’m not a “tow expert” but I’m not sure what your towing but just adding a tow hitch might not be enough to cover your bases without a tranny cooler like the pic above with the other poster.
