Welcome to the club we have a huge thread about the white paint it is garbage. Just be glad its not flaking off in giant chunks.

Polishing by hand with a light compound and then waxing may help. Good luck.

I'm still a painter and I do know Paints and if he's getting white dust on his rag, there is no clear. Back in the old days when they would hand polish their cars or trucks and it turned the rag the color of the vehicle it was a single stage paint system and not 2 stage, Base color being one stage and the clear coat the second stage. According to NAPA where I shop they say the White is a 2 stage paint but I think it's because that what you would get if you tried to color match the paint. Single stage paints cannot be color matched to the specific paint codes. $.02

If I took a pic of mine it would look fantastic but when you get up close and really look at it the quality isn’t there. The paint in my girls lexus and my mothers accord (both white) look great in comparison. And yeah “its a truck” but trucks are no longer cheap like they used to be & the shit chips easy too so its not like paint is super tough either.

The reason theirs might look much better might be because theirs might be a metallic white which Toyota and Lexus uses for their whites. Those whites are Tri coat systems and do indeed have clear as the top coat. It's also a more costly system to work with. $.02

That’s exactly right it’s got that metal flake in it it looks really really nice. Seems to hold up better too less fading/chipping.

my white definitely has a clear coat or something on top of the white paint and it's peeling off on my hood too. it's a 2018 with 50k miles.

i also don't take care of the paint and take it through the drive thru car wash so it's partially my fault i'm guessing.

Should be interesting to see all these white Gen 3s in a few more years. My 19 only has 15k mi on it so far but I hope in 5 years half the paint hasn't fallen off.

I had a similar problem and buffing/waxing fixed it. Did it by hand took several weeks but now it looks acceptable.
