17 months on my super white paint job, shines like new when i wash it but....It's never seen an auto-car wash, or anything other than Mother's car wash soap. Generally, car auto-washes get bulk concentrated soap that has to properly mixed.

My super white has seen up to two months at a time without washing, and is 24/7 outside in 100+* sun baking heat, and never an issue.
There's no clearcoat on these, white is very hard durable paint.

I suggest taking it to a reputable stealership (lol) and then give us some feed back.
Until then, you're a unicorn and just a blip in the scheme of mass production fook ups if that's actually to blame

    Cheers!

Well they say it's definitely a defect and they could see it all over the hood. Now I just have to wait for them to get the ok from a Toyota rep. to respray under warranty.

I hope the person who resprays that hood sands all that crap off and not just paints over it again. I'd be checking the top of the truck and fenders too. But since the hood is painted off the truck it could just be the hood.

I owned a white 2011 Tacoma for six years and liked it so much I bought a 2017 Tacoma that was white. There is no problem with white. Who knows the reason behind this it is rare. Take it to the dealer.

    UPDATE:

So some guys in fancy business suits(Toyota representatives)looked at the hood, took some pictures, and told me they were sent off to someone to have the history looked at. Such as what happened down the line, so on. Well I was told I would hear back in a day or 2. Friday comes around I give them a call and my advisors not in, was told he will be in Monday. I call again Monday and find out he's on vacation, so I ask if they can look me up and see what's the status. I'm told only the advisor would know anything, so I ask if there's a service manager I could talk to and again get told only the advisor would know anything. Now I'm getting fed up with my 2 week vacation and our planned road trip coming up end of August. I contacted Toyota USA and find out there is no open case and that my history only shows me going in back in May for service. I have a case open now with Toyota USA and all I can do is wait.

Warranty work is handled at the dealer level. If the DSPM looked at it and approved it, it's left to the advisor to get it handled and taken care of and submit warranty.
Probably something he didn't want to do before left or push on anyone else to take care of in his absence.
And no one is going to bother with some other advisors warranty job while he's out.
Follow up when he's back and I'm sure they will have you take Care of

As usual they're taking they're time. They lost my TPMS for my FJ team trail wheels and I had to file a case with toyota cuz it was a week or 2 with no answers and was fixed the next day.

Good luck hope you get your truck back soon

I work in the auto industry
( Mercedes Benz plant in Alabama) and if it's only one spot it sounds like a common paint defect repair. It's common here to sand a defect and polish it out. Probably some dumbass repair person that sanded through the clearcoat.

040 doesn't have clearcoat. Probably a defect or from damage they tried to spot at the port, and becauae of the location, its starting to fail

What did it cost you to have your ceramic coated?

I was quoted $700 for wash, decontaminate, and a 7 year coating. Ceramic coating should last 7 years with proper care, he also had some cheaper ceramic coating options

Ceramic coating will not last 7 years. That's snake oil talk. It's a permanent coating but unless you're the best hand washer ever, it will wear down sooner. 2 to 3 years in my experience detailing.

Gtechniq makes great products, so I walk back my claim. MOST ceramics won't last that but I've seen some articles of crystal serum not being able to be removed without 2000 grit so it's possible that one will.

700 for a full paint correction etc etc. he said it should last 2-3 year. Longer if washed correctly and maintained. I'm hoping I can get 4 years out of. I'm a detail junkie. I hate having my paint feel like sand paper.

Read post #16 if you want to know how to maintain the coating as long as possible.

Save the $700+ the rest and put it in the bank.
Nothing else is needed other than regular wash with quality brand car wash soap & wax now & then. I still haven't waxed mine since new, but I will.

The oem paint job is the best and only thing that you really need to keep the appearance of the vehicle looking good, and with the money you save on all the the other B/S they tell you need that will save your paint (it will not) use those $$ to get the parking scratches you'll accumulate over the years fixed, if ever you need to before trading for a new ride.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!
