Hey everybody...I have been lurking on this forum, researching lifting my '17 Tacoma. After much deliberation I decided I would attempt the install myself. Install guides/videos seem to make it look a lot easier than paying someone $1k (most of the quotes I got were roughly that much).

The point of this is not to say "You spent $XXXX on coilovers, but aren't willing to pay for install?" or "Those quotes are ****." The purpose is to get ANY and ALL pieces of advice from those of you who have performed installs.

    Anywho!

I have gathered the list of following parts:

    - King OEM Ext Travel Suspension
    - Wheelers Super Bumps
    - Toytec Boss leaf pack
    - SPC LR UCAs
    - 285/75R16 Duratracs & Method wheels

So, with all that being said I just want to open the discussion to any pieces of advice for the install, including but not limited to answering the following questions as well...

    1. Was the biggest pain point getting the OEM UCAs off due to either needing to cut the OEM bolts or bending the fender liner?

    2. Any issues with mounting the coilovers in terms of overall length exceeding OEM coilover length? Can you literally just unbolt the OEM coilovers and put the King coil overs in without needing to pry on the LCA to get them to fit?

    3. Anybody have issues NOT using air tools to perform install?

    4. Did you all install the UCA's then disconnect the lower ball joint bracket, then install the coilovers?

Lastly the best video I could find for install purposes is the following:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOW-FRDl5wg

    Any better guides?

    Thanks in advance!

It’s a new truck so everything is still “removable”. You might want to do the clamshell bushing while you have it all apart. I think the only time I used an air tool was to take the wheels off and the occasional blow gun to clean something. Best advice is take your time and make sure everythings tight when your all done.

You’ll be fine. One extra set of sober hands always helps. Too many “helpers” just get in the way in my opinion. If you run into trouble just go in this order - Heat it, beat it, weld it, grind it, and paint it.
