Thanks man. This is my first truck (well now second) so I wanted it to be a great experience owning your first truck. But yeah Toyota client relations and the GM from the dealership to just put me in a new one.

Dealer told me I'm the 30th vehicle in the shop for chewed wires, at least one a day they tell me. Squirrels finding warm place to sit and chew. $700 for a wiring harness though?? Ya, bullshit!

Been hearing quite a few people with chewed up harnesses. Toyota musta lubed up the wiring looms with peanut butter.

The radical enviro nuts had wiring changed from oil based to soy based thus attracting rodents, they really need to rethink or change again

My mother's HHR had the wiring harness chewed through at least 4 times. It turns out the insulation they used on the wiring was made out of some odd soy-based rubber that the little furballs just couldn't get enough of.

That's crazy. I'm going to try one of those ultrasonic critter repellents, don't know if they are just junk or not, but worth a try I suppose. Going to mount it next to where the truck parks in the driveway and hope it doesn't happen again. Read in another thread that Bounce laundry sheets work too, so maybe I'll stuff a few into some areas around the engine.

But it sure is cheaper than paying for 2k plus. Been told it is about that much to replace the 40 dollar part. Currently fixing mine for the same ordeal

Sounds pretty good to me... The worst truck buying experience would be if they told you there's nothing further they could do, and then cock-punched you on the way out the door.

I would disagree and say it's the best experience ever! Seems like the dealer saved you a ton of head aches, and you get a new truck to enjoy.
