    What oil stains?

You aren't talking about the black-colored skid that hooks onto two bolts?

The truck appears to have waded through water higher than the doorsills, as evidenced by the bent debris guard forward edge on the fuel tank (next to the driveshaft slip joint). That on its own isn't a cause for rejection, but inspect the carpets for water ingress.

It's a common mod to trim the bent portion with sheetmetal snips so it doesn't rub on the driveshaft.

6 cans? when i used fluid film on my tundra that had more area....i think 4 was it. When i used cosmoline on my tacoma pretty sure 3 1/2 cans did everything that was part of the steel undercarriage related to the frame. I think the bomb spray cans were the same size to. Sooner you can start applying any rust proofing your better off. I didn't do the shields, except removed them to get at all the good stuff underneath that would be prone to corrosion.

Yeah looks uniform to me. Seems like it’s metal, not oil?

Nothing I wouldn't expect from a vehicle that old. Mine looks like that too. I plan to start using Fluid Film before the winter, which will inhibit the current rust too. Just avoid rubberized coating like the plague. The dealerships tend to use that for their "rust protection" that they offer.

I used 6 cans but initially i did it with 4 but then removed the spare tire and sprayed that area then the rest to spray inside the C channel...so probably 6 cans is a lot also considering that in Alberta they cost $17...i though about buying the large 1 gallon can but i still would need to get a sprayer...

I sprayed in those channels too, but didn't waste much cosmoline while spraying inside them. I removed that front air dam and engine shield to be sure i got all those steel lines coated that tie into the rubber hoses's. Those power steering lines can get corroded by the salt spay and leak. Happened to my tundra when i missed doing them.

Depends on where the truck lived, whether it was maintained properly, etc. that truck is already 3 years old,so normal I would say.
