2017 Tacoma Alarm

So..Just got Bought my 2017 Tacoma Trd Offroad DBL Cab, 4WD.

I declined the KARR Alarm system from the dealer. Any recomendations. Ive read online, that the alarm has just been deactivated. Is this true?

Will need to activate via Techstream after installation.

 

Go try this and report back: Roll down a window and lock the truck from the fob. Wait for the red "security" light to switch from steady to flashing, about thirty seconds. Reach in the window and unlock/open the door from inside. What happens?

The part @faultball references is the Glass Breakage Sensor add-on to the factory alarm. Certainly worth considering if you want the alarm to go off if a window is smashed.

Funny I had askes salesguy, if the alarm would go off, eventhough I opted out of alarm.

Do you know if this is on all trucks, or just the 2017 and/or specific trim packages? My windows have an alarm sticker, but I have nothing on the VIP front. Since it's late at night, I don't want to trip my alarm and annoy everyone, if I have one.

I wonder where the GBS microphone goes on a MT truck since it uses the clutch cancel switch knockout as a point for the microphone. I suppose you could use the center console if the wires were long enough.

All I know is my truck has it.

Wish I could offer more info, but I'd be guessing.
