Wish these non-3rd gen owners would find something original...

"the ride remains stiff, handling is ponderous, the cabin is loud..."

CR is spot on about this. Having owned 5 Tacomas in my life, the 16 is the worst handling, worst steering, worst tranny/engine combo I've ever owned. They may, in fact, be very reliable, but the driving experience is miserable compared to the competition.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but this kind of feedback is why we have Honda Ridgelines and it wont be long until the truck is completely gone all together. the LAST thing I even think about or consider in a truck is stiff ride, handling and cabin noise...its a goddamn truck and a cheap one to boot.

I can't argue with that, but if previous gen Tacomas handled better than the 3rd gen, why go backwards? Every one of my other Tacoma's had far superior steering and braking as well as more responsive throttle.

To be honest, I can't even tell the difference in handling between most vehicles. Braking is no worse than any other vehicle I have owned and unless, I draw a line and smash my brakes to see the difference there isnt any. The truck stops when I want it to. As far as throttle response, every car is a bit different but when I drive I'm not racing..

And yet, you still bought a 2016. Did you not test drive it? Maybe you need a Ridgeline?

Because I needed a truck and I swear by their reliability. Just because I own one doesn't mean I can't be critical of the way it performs - especially compared to other trucks and from previous generations.

Don't care so much about the ride of the tacoma but if its going to perform worse than a Highlander it should at least ride and handle as nice as one.

I would never own a vehicle I was"critical" of. period. to each their own.

    Whole bunch of shit! $$$
Well for what it's worth, my 2017 AC Utility has been one of the better trucks I have owned, way better than the 2014 F150 XLT I had to lemon because of drive train vi ration at 400 miles on the odometer....tool a while, but they bought it back from me..with this Tacoma, I haven't really noticed anything the report talks about or the forum has noted except that 1 of 8 of my Leaf U-bolts wasn't torqued to specs, and the 2 zerks in the front drive shaft were lacking grease. The trans was full, no howling diffs, no whistling in UCAs, no wondshield problems , nothing Other than that, I am extremely happy about the truck and plan on keeping this one for a while.
