No idea. I was exaggerating. I'm sure there is an assuption of % failure for each part and they stock that many. If the failure is greater than their assumption they get back ordered. So the cps failure was greater than their assumed failure rate. I assume they assumed it would be minimal.

The widespread issues with the Rear Diff have not been resolved yet either.

The harmonic noise ? I thought it wasn't proven to be mechanical. Not everyone has that btw. Kind of went away really.
Like the howling holes up front ?

We need a picture logo thats show a guy picking at straws.

Sometimes they try to claim it is normal, but you yourself just said that not everyone has the problem, so it obviously cannot be normal.

I thought you would be complaining about the holes up front that howl and are plugged with a nickel worth of plugs still.

I've got. Just started and I hope your right it that goes away.

Harmonic is a good way to describe it though, definitely not a howl for me.

I understand. Like everyone had the Camry sudden accelleration, or thought they did after reading and seeing it blown out of proportion on the news and web.
    Got it.

What do cars that were under Recall have to do with the Howling Diffs?

Don't forget this guy telling us how quiet it is suppose to be, should not be any whistling control arms or howling rear ends.

So you are saying you took the words of a salesman. I bet he doesn't even own one so how was he to know. He told you what you wanted to hear and you bought it. Sounds like you were gullible.

1.) Smitty - you sir need a Ridgeline - they have forums to troll as well and issues posted there. OR anything but a Tacoma
2.) I personally like the ride, my wife likes the ride - of course this is subjective.
    3.) Guess I have a Unicorn
4.) I have a 6spd - no tranny shift issues (looks in mirror)
5.) Steering - holy crap - personally Much better than the LT 4-door Colorado I test drove around Manchester NH when looking for a truck.
6.) This is a awesome truck!!I have said it many times here - it performs exactly as expected and I love it

Smitty and Shakerhood should start their own forum it seems. To his credit, Smitty does often make decent posts, but the angst always wins out. Sell the Tacoma and move on man.

    Shaker doesn't even own a 3rd gen?!

So why do you come to these forums? Just to shit on the third gen? Seems that way. Go enjoy your second gen and quit seeding negativity.

I don't think Toyota did a good job in designing the 3rd gens. However, the CR report on the Tacoma seems BS to me. I haven't noticed that the cabin is loud at all. I haven't noticed subpar handling or a low driver position or any of that. The people are right who say you'll love your truck more if you stay off these forums. As for the poor reliability, that is just a guess from a magazine who reviews hundreds of models of cars every year. They really don't know.
