Dang. There are plenty of reports that you don’t need to pull the engine though. However, maybe it makes the job quicker by doing so.

 

To be fair, that was a new head. But yeah probably with Toyota they have a specialized cradle to pull it with or they have to meet workers safety needs or something.

 

I’ve not personally done this fix.
But the idea that engine HAS to be removed, isn’t true.
Dropping the front Differential will make this possible with out engine removal.

It’s still a big job either way. But $4k! Wow!

Seafoam doesn’t do the tune up. This Texaco stuff saves me thousands at the dealer.

Because an oil can’t possibly last that many miles? Modern oils are still good well past 10k miles. I change my oil every 12-15k miles. Use Super Tech oil too

most new BMW’s have a factory 15k interval.


Edit - I misread the link. Looks like OP was doing 5k changes. Completely wasteful.

Mine has a 15, still change it every 7.5 to be safe

 

Its actally a 2 barrel made by Mike Sweers. I trust the toyota engineers.
