Hello everyone. I am new to these forums. I purchased a 2017 Tacoma TRD sport and I seem to be having some minor issues and I am curious if they are common or if they are issues at all.

-On 4H is it usual that the vehicle seems to bog down when turning (off road, never on paved road) especially when backing up. Is there a locking differential on the front when 4H is active?

-When braking I noticed that the transmission seems to shift hard and kind of give a jolt.

-when braking there seems to be some kind of vibration, however if you press the brake harder the vibration goes away. At first I thought it was the rotors but I would imagine it would get worse with more pressure.

-finally fuel economy. No matter what I do it seems to like 13L/100km no matter how soft or spirited I drive. My C55 is getting better fuel economy then this 3.5

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Look in your quoted above comment for my thoughts / answers.

As side note, I had the front brake service done. Which is basically a fresh lube and grease on the calipers. These come practically dry from the factory. Keep those lubed up at least once a year. You will feel better braking as well better / longer brake wear.

Welcome, take it to the dealer if you have issues.

We have no idea if what you are experiencing is abnormal, does the vehicle really bog or is it just you. Is the vibration you feel the same as I feel or much worse, etc etc

I went to the dealer initially however the woman I spoke with just bushed me off and said everything is OK. Ill get these things checked out. Thanks again.

Well yes. Your engine is now powering 4 wheels. And don't drive your truck in 4WD on dry pavement.

Bring it to a dealer. They'll say "could not replicate"

    Normal. Electro-hydraulic brake system.

18.2 MPG seems pretty good for a 4WD. Assuming you're in Canada?

He has a Sport so it has a traditional style booster.

Yes. Which is the reason you only hear about the off-road having strange brake issues.

Just curious, I hear folks talk about the OR having a different brake booster, but I'm not seeing a part number difference for anything but the master cylinder reservoir?

Could someone point out the parts difference?

I don't know the part numbesr but the Sport has a traditional vacuum booster and the Off Road has the electro/hydraulic unit in order to operate the ATRAC and or Crawl Control systems.

Yes, that's what I've heard / read as well, but I find it curious that this isn't reflected in the parts fische?

No idea why it does not show but they are definitely different, look at some under hood shots and the difference is obvious.

A little update for those who may care. Most of these issues were resolved with more mileage. Shifting is much better and fuel economy has improved quite a bit. It seems to do better with premium. I am getting around 9.8 to 10.4 liters per 100km or 24mpg to 22.6mpg with light driving mostly highway.
