    Hello to all,

    I had check engine light on, code is P11F000 and went to Albany Toyota dealership and found out I have "cylinder imbalance #5". The cylinder leak down at 95% on exhaust side. They are recommending cylinder head and valve replacement to be completed. I'm thinking due to cost to just get a new/used motor and have them switched. I'm asking if anyone can recommend a mechanic to do the removal and replacement of new motor. Im located in Salem. 2017 Toyota Tacoma Sport 4X4 automatic, 93,000 miles

    Thanks for looking,
    Shawn

    Another one. Sorry to hear of your luck. The valve issues are inexcusable issues that continue to persist throughout all years of this motor. Can’t recommend a shop either but if you can find someone, even a diy type mechanic, a used junkyard motor will probably be the best/easiest bet.

    @silverstr8p, are you in Oregon?

    @pspsurf ,
    May want to post on Regional forum.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/oregon.286/
    But , I would not pursue the engine replacement.
    The head, valves and miscellaneous items will cost less than an used engine. You could potentially do the head jobs without pulling the engine.

    Kinda makes me wish I got one of those fancy extended warranties... but I don't think my 2021 with 24,000 miles is eligible anymore 'eh ?

    Most likely buy extended warranty from dealer, when buying brand new.

    Take your time to explore options. You still can drive with that code.

    It depends on how bad it is, but you can keep driving. The guy here with over 400k has had a valve burnt since late 200k miles, nearly 300k. So that’s over 100k with the code. It is starting to misfire now. Some are worse than others, but most are pretty minor and don’t even notice a difference in how it drives at all.

    An Italian tune up should make it run good as new

    You may have a slight misfiring going on at idle, but at mid and high rpms it will be fine
