Had my 25K Service today. Told Tech that my 6 speed manual clutch pedal was squeaking again since they lubed it at 15K and 20K, and I have had to spray silicone on the pivot under the dash.

Master Tech took my truck for a ride and replicated the squeaking noise and feeling it when shifting.

The following TSB was referenced on my receipt. T-SB186-12. Tech said they were ordering a complete Clutch Pedal Assembly, Master Cylinder, and new Hose for the Warranty Repair. Parts are suppose to be in on Monday, so than I will schedule the warranty repair.

Bottom line, if you are having a problem...document it, and push to have a Master Tech check it out on one of your service intervals. May take several attempts after they just try lubing the pivot point. Make sure you note T-SB 186-12 (Technical Service Bulletin).

My Dealership has been great in the past with recalibrating the ECM because of stumble, even on my manual transmission, doing the recall on the blower motor etc.

Koons Toyota Annapolis, MD is awesome!

When they finish, take a look at my thread linked in this post and check their work. Most toyota dealers have never seen a clutch pedal it seems like.

I went through grief after this TSB. The squeak comes back. Shitty parts just get replaced with the same shitty parts. The secret is silglyde brake grease. Pack it in there yourself and save yourself the trouble.

Link to thread about my experience and observations after the work performed:

Burro09, thanks for the heads up. I spent my entire adult working career in the Automotive Aftermarket on the supplier side. I hate to say that I know "the issues with O.E". I will take your advice. This is one part that the company I work for does not "re-engineer" and sell as an aftermarket part that works, and last better than O.E.

Glad they are helping you out. But there is no factory fix for the squeaky pedal. The last 2 manual Tacoma’s I’ve had squeaked after considerable mileage.

Thanks for the heads up! Well, guess I will have to wait and see. I know the silicone spray and silicone brake grease has only seemed to be a "temporary fix for me". Seems that humidity and heat really seems to make it a real pain in the ass as I live at the beach. It will only get worst as we get into summer, so I am hoping that the R&R on the assembly and reinstall if done right will fix the problem.

After next week, once the R&R are done and I drive a few hundred miles, I will post a update!

High Temperature Disc Brake Grease on the pivot points is the answer, regular grease and sprays just melt away and the old barn door sound returns.

The squeak addressed by the TSB mentioned here, and the "regular" squeak are two different beasts. Literally, a passenger asked me if that was a duck, my clutch pedal quacked before the TSB. Now it just has a little squeak that could be lubed, if I cared enough.

The old barn door creaking sound I am referring to is loud enough for the cars driving beside you hear it, lol. The issue is the Factory grease melts away in high temps, disc brake grease has to be able to stay put in really high temperatures, thus making it the perfect lubricant for it.

Surprises me how much they are willing to replace for this issue knowing it will inevitably come back as they aren't actually fixing the issue. Mine certainly squeaks and it's annoying but I haven't bothered dealing with it. Need to do the brake grease thing. I wish I could go in for the TSB and just be given the parts. Extra pedal assembly, master cylinder, etc would be nice to have long term.

Awesome, I gave up after several attempts while still under warranty. I'll have to give the brake grease a try. I'll miss squeaking it to the radio though.

Mine only squeaks right after a drastic change in weather or humidity then is goes away.

No, there's actually a problem with the parts. Like I said, I had the TSB after I let the first squeak grow up and be a real animal. Now, no big deal. I'd have to check how many miles I've done before and after, but before the TSB the squeak was also encouraged by the weather. It's been a monsoon here and I've been to the beach and out camping in the mud since the TSB, no squeak.

There's definitely a difference between whatever the TSB fixes and a normal noise from a moving part rubbing.

Eh maybe so but I doubt it. As far as I know they replace it with the exact same parts that came out. I could be wrong but there's been a bunch of threads on this. My bet is it'll inevitably come back unless they specifically put some better grease in there which has already been determined as the fix by many.

Now that the weather is warming a bit, my creak is making a comeback. I had the pedal assembly replaced last fall and it was great until now. It's faint, but I got under there today and it seems to be coming from the piston / rod assembly. I moved pedal around depressed a few times, didn't apply any additional brake grease and for some reason adjusting the assembly seems to have temporarycured it. Who knows...

On Tuesday, my clutch pedal assembly etc gets changed out. Will have to wait and see what the outcome is. Truck ha$ been parked in the garage for nine days while out of the country. Drove it today and the squeak, noise is ever so present after about a dozen shifts.

I’ve been dealing with this for three years now. The place that does my oil change started lining it for me, which lasts a few thousand miles but not quite all the way to the next oil change.

Friday, they mentioned there was a TSB for it, and parts and labor it would be $750. While I really like a quiet clutch, I’m not dropping $750, and certainly not if it is to replace with the same parts and it will just come back.

    So dumb.

I figured out my annoying creaking pedal ... using caliper grease, put some on the plunger rod that sits in the cap on the pedal. Has been quiet since and will try to upload a picture today.

Yeah my sqeak always seems to originate from there as well. Last time I didn't have the grease handy and was just messing with the rod turning it a little and the noise has been gone for 2 to 3 weeks now so I have no idea what gives...

I've got a bunch of random grease lying around, I think the closest I've got is wheel bearing grease, think that'll work well?
