First off...allow me to introduce myself, I'm db and I'm new to this forum, and I'm pretty excited about all of the info I have found on here, and am looking forward to reading and learning about tacoma mods etc...
My 2017 Tacoma sr access cab doesn't have any rear speakers, so I bought a pair of Kicker 6 3/4" speakers and much to my surprise, when I pulled the door panel off there was no factory speaker wiring at all. It's a pretty basic truck in the sense that it doesn't have rear seats, cruise, or even rear speakers...so the fact that there are no factory wires installed really doesn't surprise me, just curious if anyone else has run across this issue.l, and if maybe im missing something. Hoping to hear from some people with more knowledge about this than me (pretty much everyone does lol)
Thanks in advance for any help!

Remove that square panel and look at the flex wire entry point to see if you have missed something. If you have already done this ignore. But not having the wire would not surprise me a bit. Sounds like you have a vehicle with the "Rear Seat Delete" package.

Didn't want you to feel too ignored here. Welcome.

Yes, thanks I did look in there, and unfortunately I found nothing. I'm pretty sure somebody makes a plug and play Amp for the 6" head unit, so I might go that route and just run new wires...That's above my pay grade though, so I will have to hire a stereo guy for that one lol! Thanks for the reply, i definitely appreciate it!!

You might have a partial wiring.
R29 is on the head unit (rear)
    IE2 at driver's kick panel
    IL3 at passenger's kick panel
BO1 at the left rear corner before going into rear door wire boot.
BP1 at the right rear corner before going into rear door wire boot.
    S17 & S18 are clearly missing.

Wait until you try to put foglights on your SR. My 17 doesnt have the wiring harness needed. I thought it would just be a plug in deal when I picked up my Toyota Tacoma foglights off this website and found out otherwise. Toyota will sell that to you which isnt cheap so I raided the junkyard and found one that worked on a Camry for $10.
I bought the SR with the appearance package. I dont care for all the junk they stick on these new trucks. Just keep it simple.

You can just get a 4 or 5 channel amp and run your own speaker wire to the rear. It already has the pre cut outs on the metal doors for the speakers, you just need to mount them and run your own wires.

Mine came with speakers in the back with the oem wiring but I disconnected it and ran my own bigger gauge copper wire to all 4 speaker in my truck. You have to pull panels apart and it’ll take a good while. It’s really easy to do yourself just make it like clean and use zip ties.

Awesome! Thanks! Yea, I've already got the speakers, and brackets, just need to make them sing lol! Really thinking the Amp idea is the way to go....that way I can have rear speakers and boost them at the same time. I installed the Subaru kicker tweeters which are 100watts, and the 6x9 kicker speakers that are 450watts, and the rear 6 3/4 kickers I bought are 300watts, so I definitely have room for an amp... I just gotta figure out which one g20646CC693-F.jpg 15WRXSTI-TweeterKit.jpg g20646CC674-F.jpg
