Hello all and I’m hope I’m posting this in the right place. I have a 2017 Tacoma SR5 V6 2WD with 110k miles. This is my daily and have always been easy on it with just commuting to work. Last week I developed a low rpm studder or hesitation between 1000 and 2000 rpm when barely giving it gas at in town speeds. It goes away when you give it more gas/throttle and sometimes it seems worse with temp not affecting it. I took it to my local dealership today and was informed that it needed a transmission and a radiator at the cost of 5700$. I’m just wondering if anyone has had this issue and if it is common or complete BS. Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Get 2nd opinion. Try a transmission specialist shop. Most dealers are parts replacement places. They just throw part at it until they have a fix.

Isn’t there a TSB for a torque converter shudder at low rpms?

I have a 2015 V6 RWD and started to get a shudder at 100K. I had just had the transmission flushed and fluid replaced. My garage recommended an anti shudder additive, I believe is a Wynns product. After a 1000 miles of driving any shudder has been pretty much eliminated.

agree, these stealerships will come after you. As an example I was gonna be charged $800 plus tax for new spark plugs when I got them for around $300 something at pep boys. And by the way only took a little over an hour. Meanwhile the stealership tries to keep your vehicle overnight to find more bs problems.

^ Cracks me up that 6 "Toyota" spark plugs are selling for $90 on average.

FYI. I recently had the plugs replaced at 100K. Cost $219.98 labor. $110.16 plugs. Done at a local service center, not a Toyota dealer.
