So for the first time Monday March the 26th 2018 wile trying to go to work after warming up my Tacoma for two minutes I tried to shift to drive in the proses after releasing the parking brake and going from parking through drive I felt the front brakes totally locked wile passing through reverse, ones I was on drive I slowly started pealing the rear tires where quickly spinning, I stop turn off the truck on and off five times, finally after 7-10 minuets the front brakes where finally free, I haven’t been driving the truck since then today I finally had Toyota corporation coming to look at, I have to bring it to one of my local dealers, for them to investigate, and before the tow truck came over to take to the dealer I try to move it out to the front of my house and the front brakes are lock again the first time this happened I washed the truck the day before Sunday the 25th but I haven’t washed since, there’s a video on YouTube “ 17 Tacoma stuck after wash”
Have any one out there is having a similar issue?
Base on the service writer at the dealer this is the second Tacoma he has seen with this or really similar issues

Some guys have had the rear drums freeze up, never heard of the fronts locking before though, let us know what the dealer finds.

I've been to multiple washes and rain storms and even a noreastah since i've owned my truck. No problems like this what so ever, did you go offroading recently? could be something stuck..

On a serious note, this is the first time I've heard about brake problems. I know that mine have been a little touchy since new though. I have not had any of the problems that I read about on Tacoma World but it's starting to make me nervous. Seems like every time I turn around that someone is having an issue of some sort, everything from bad blower motors to decals that aren't put on straight. Maybe I have one of the few good ones.

I got a mexican made 17 OR, mine was made in November 2017 hopefully most issues were solved by RnD by that time. Every time the ground is dry I crawl under and check my trans, diff and transfer case.... Good luck so far I hear a slight howl around 40 mph but i think its just the wind passing through my hollow tube steps...

    Have faith brotha

Actually I think I have a good truck, I'm still scratching my head as to why there are so many different proplems, I could understand if it was just one or two common things. I do know this: The things you read on here are not just exclusive this site, I have read on several other sites about Tacomas having problems and I'm thinking eventually enough complaining is going to drive down the value of our trucks.

The exact same thing happened to me, I washed my 2017 TRDOR last night, parked in my garage. Got up this morning, warmed up my truck for 2 min and put it in drive.....wouldn’t move. Parking brake was down. Gave it some gas, peeled out in my garage. Put it in park and then back to drive, same thing. From drive to reverse and it moved.

Rats? Check if any fricking rats ate some wires underneath it. I blame it on rats.

well, I happen to my truck again last Sunday after sitting in my driveway for over a week with out washing it the night before, the truck is at the dealer now as we speak, the dealer couldn’t find anything so Toyota send a third party “investigator” to get some data out of the Event Data Recorder, and send me a copy of the data he extracted, I am not a engineer but I had work on cars and can read a excel spreadsheet, find out the two front wheels are locking with zero brake fluid pressure, the brake switch is in open position, looks to me that the crawl control actuators aren’t working properly, is definitely and electronic issue, probably related to the crawl control, yours has it by any chance?

Seriously- check all the wires. It happened to a buddy. Most of his warning lights came on and the dealer found chewed wires. My truck had a rat climbing in the engine compartment the same night we were camping together also but luckily no bites.

There’s no damage to the wiring or any components, I look and the dealer has look at it twice, could be electronic or component failure

When you sell the quantity that they have don't you think there will be some issues ? Is everyone having issues ? Every auto has problems.

If frame issues didn't tank the 2nd and sudden acceleration on camrys didn't tank then I wouldn't worry.

I don’t think everyone is having issues, I mean Toyota is known for they reliability, it has to be one in a bunch with a little issue I get it

I’m having the same issue. Wash the truck and the front is locked up the next morning. It’s happened to me 4 times now and the dealer has no idea. If anyone has a solution to this problem pleas let me know.

It’s happened to me as well.

However, I just came home from camping near the ocean for several days. Immediately unloaded, washed gear, washed truck and parked it in my garage. It sat for several days since it’s not my daily driver.
I finally decided to start her up and move her out on a sunny day. Stuck, just like yours, burned rubber in the garage too lol. Put it in 4wd and it “broke” loose.

It never concerned me cause it’s never happened again. But my theory behind it was after driving 90 miles from camping in salty breeze conditions, and washing it as soon as I got home, I probably created some sort of bond between the rotor and brake pads.

My Infiniti with brembo brakes will do it after I wash it and let it sit over night. No big deal to me.

I now roll in the driveway a few times back and forth lightly holding the brake after each wash to clean the surface of the rotors, never happened again.
