I'm not sure why you would have to take it to the original dealer when it's a Toyota factory defect. But that's me thinking out loud. :notsure:

This was most likely a lot damage vehicle or a transportation damage truck . The responsible dealer was recommended most likely because they made the repair and warranty it . Painter didn't sand the roof enough to make the clear stick on a very hot panel . The clear is coming off. If OP has possession look for trash in the paint or inconsistency in the orange peel . Also look for creases in the headliner from a lazy tech (hopefully not) only half dropping the headliner to remove the sat/radio antenna.

I would be calling Toyota Corp. Period! this is a TOYOTA issue not a dealer related issue. Whatever dealer you took it to should loose their dealership or the Svc. Mgr. should be fired. He/she is shirking their job!
BTW -- is your truck a San Antonio made or a Mexico made truck If you don't know all you need to tell us is it's first digit in the VIN (number). 5 is US or 3 is Mexico - that's it!

I doubt it --if you go back you will see at least one more truck with the exact same damaged (defective paint) -- I'll let you find it as i'm going to bed.

Yep probably the same issue . I work at a dealership bodyshop . It happens a lot. That is why it is being repaired at the dealer it was sold from . Take it or leave it.

Why it matters if it's from the San Antonio plant or the Mexico plant?

Because one or the other(we hope not both) made a mistake while painting the truck(s). I am hoping the mistake was made in the Mexico plant, as mine came from San Antonio, as all AC's are built there.
Mine has a great paint job, and I hope it stays that way!

Toyota cannot seem to be able to paint very well with Blue paint.

Just an FYI for everyone, I took my truck to dealership about this problem in November. The paint is fading on hood, roof of truck, and on right fender. 3100.00 estimate to paint which they have agreed to pay. I found out from my body shop guy where my truck is being painted that the service manager told him that Toyota is about to issue a recall on trucks with this paint.

That's bad, worse than mine; but mine was fading in all the same places.
