My truck had always been parked under a carport until August of 2020. We have had some downpours lately and the truck smelled like rotten fish. Noticed mold in the back of the cab (vacuumed out what was visible) and the kids have started coughing since. Truck is currently with the dealer and outside of warranty. Toyota recommended I take it in for an estimate and call them back. Dealer plans to disassemble interior and take pictures / send to Toyota for guidance; dealer states they have done many of these repairs due to 3rd brake light leak. This sounds like something that should have been a recall. Definitely a known issue and owners weren’t notified. If you’ve had a similar issue, please email me at cwking11@gmail.com. Visual evidence appreciated.

This was common on early 3rd generations, not sure exact years. Hopefully they take care of you, my guess is- they didn't recall all, rather had a TSB and just fixed what was brought in with similar complaints.

Yes, a problem reported several times around here.

Best wishes for resolution in your favor.

If I remember right, someone in another thread explained that recalls were reserved for things that involves safety from the NHTSA while TSBs are for everything else.
