    Hello everyone,

The stereo on my stock Toyota Tacoma turns on, but I get no sound. I checked the fuses and none appear to be blown. The weird thing is, the stereo will start to work fine only when the car has been running for more than an hour or so. Anyone have similar issues or know what it may be? Contacted Toyota and they said it would be $250 just to check it out haha

Isn't your truck under Warranty? Should be free if it is.

That sucks man. Try holding down the power button and it will do a reset. Might help, might not.

Mine will occasionally lock up as I'm driving and will not respond to any controls at the head unit itself. Can't switch the screen to something else or even turn the radio off. It starts to respond when I use the steering wheel volume controls. Not sure if that would work for you or not. Its weird.

Maybe it's a loose connection somewhere? Frayed wire/connector? It might be a vibration or bump that's making it occasionally work.

Do you have an iPhone that is paired to your truck radio?

Thank you all for your replies!
I have checked the back of the head unit and it all appears to be connected fine. I was thinking there may be a loose connection somewhere or a frayed wire but I wasn’t too sure where I would check for these other than the back of the head unit? Would it be in the door panels?

I do have an iPhone paired, but I disconnected. There’s no sound at all from Bluetooth, FM, AM, CD etc

I will try deleting the contacts from the truck today. Hopefully that helps. Anyone know where I can check the wires or loose connections?

I’d suggest downloading the entune app on your phone, connecting to your head unit, and seeing if it needs an update. May resolve your issue.

I actually tried that yesterday. I updated and unfortunately did not help with the sound

Any luck with deleting your contact list? It worked for me and I just left them out. Worked great for 6 months until I ran some music off the phone and it took a dump again. Stopped playing music and I works again. Go figure

I've had this same issue for 6 months on my 2017 tacoma. I read a post awhile back saying it could be a heat sink or heat shield inside the head unit itself. That the heat sink becomes loose and cuts out intermittently. Does it sometimes sounds like a wire is grounding it out sometimes like an almost static noice when cutting in or coming back?
