I think they tied the ign into one of the fuses on the lower panel. I know when I was installing an amp i was using one of the ign fuses for the amp relay kick on, not that much voltage, it was doing weird things then, so I ended up putting it on the window fuse which only kick on when the ign kick on. Im pulling the panel to see where these guys tied the 12+ and ign to...

Well yea if it's screwing with the voltage on sensitive circuits it can cause things to get wonky too.

Ok so here is what I think I found. I pulled the alarm body out, it was tight, I pulled the fuse for the hot and the vehicle did not have any issues. Put the fuse back in, and it DID NOT have any issues. So I wiggle the harness and I have issues again, after the beeping the truck does when the door is open I believe I hear the distinct sound of arcing.. Im going to have to pull the harnesses on the alarm and see whats going on. Probably rubbed against one of the metal pieces under the dash and thats why it was intermittent..

That's not good, might want to unhook the battery until you find that. Wouldn't want something to have a "thermal event" during the night.

What still puzzles me is why having the scan tool plugged in "fixed" it.

I have no idea. Im hoping this is it. As mentioned it appears that the installers knew what they were doing. Lots of ecu type boxes on the drive side panel and they tied in the wires to little wires etc. Regarding the scan tool plug I have no clue, im going to make sure its a short and not something rubbing against each other. Ill update.

Well it wasnt a sizzling wire, that noise was velcro behind the wire harrness holding the alarm wire to the inside fire wall. When I was wiggling it, it was rubbing against that velcro... lol. I did wiggle the wires and i pulled all the connectors out of the box looking thing that has the inside fuse box under it. Pulled the connectors, reseated, wiggled the wires, cleaned it up, doesnt do it anymore. I have no idea whats gong on? I cant replicate it anymore. Will try again tomorrow.
