I am taking my Tacoma to get serviced tomorrow and am at 59,700 odometer. With my transmission going out of warranty at 60K I was wondering if anyone knows the number of software update on my transmission. It searches for gears when I am pulling my camper. Don’t get me wrong I love this truck but strive for perfection.

You just need to tell them its shifting erratically and you know of software updates to improve it. They will handle the rest.

Thanks. I will try it. I just pulled my camper 4000 miles out west up and down hills and it did fine for the most part but would fail to shift correctly after it went through a heavy shifting pattern. I stopped using cruise and It did better. I didn’t use the ECT. I will try that too.

It makes a huge difference, most 16-17 tacoma owners are excited to drive their trucks again once its been updated.

I didn't notice that much of a difference when I updated mine. OVTune is what did it for me...having gearlock enabled would be a dream towing, I'd imagine. It's a real life saver for me going on roadtrips where there are massive hill climbs.

But a way to get the TSB done is tell them you took a roadtrip somewhere with HIGH elevation and it was shifting weird. There is a TSB for high elevation shifting issues. They wont be able to reproduce it..unless they take your truck on a road trip lol so they should hopefully do the update for you.

ECT helps a lot when towing or traveling in the mountains in general. I haven't haven't had the TSB shifting update applied, nor do I plan to. (and I tow and travel in the mountains regularly)

It's a button's push away, worth giving it a shot. lol

Yes, that's exactly what I did when I had mine done, incidentally only one guy at the shop knew about this update, he was a "Taco guy".
I liked the update and it got rid of the lag in shifting and all other shifting issues. The TSB I had done was 0062-18.
