I drove for almost a year with a broken rack and pinion. Had no power steering, although the pump was working. Never had a no start issue.

    None of this means much.
As it will be coming from a 2nd Gen point of view.

I can tell you the security system kills fuel and ignition on the 2nd Gen.
I’d start with a noid light on the injectors and spark at the plugs.

    For now.

Wait until they all go with a secure gateway.
Subscription based, internet access for bidirectional communication.
I’m not sure “DIY” is even a consideration with future vehicles.

Yeah, I believe the pump was seized, but only based on what the guy in my screenshot followed up with. I would have assumed it would blow a fuse before it would cause a no start issue, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

    Isn’t this normal after a battery change/disconnect?

    No?

Prior to the disconnect, the starter was just spinning it over. After the disco, the engine caught briefly on two occasions but wouldn't stay lit.

Everyone gets a passing grade in school, and employee knowledge suffers. Oh well, guess it’s job security for the ones that can perform at their jobs. A market downtown will strip many.

Some things you learn from experience.
You might have a new guy spend 2 hours and not diagnose an issue.
Where as an old tech has seen an issue, and knows where to start looking.
It’s more than schooling. I takes schooling, experience, work environment, and much more.

I’m not a Tech, never want to be.
    I’m more “the problem”.

The only reason I work on my stuff is because, I don’t want to spend the money letting someone else do it. If I had lots of extra cash laying around, I would never pick up a wrench again.
I’d seriously rather dig ditches……I just don’t like it.

I like to “figure out what the problem is”. I don’t like “fixing” the problem.;)

I agree wholeheartedly, but in my mind- if they wouldn’t normally pass courses, I as an employer wouldn’t even give them a chance to learn on my dime.

Fair enough. I can see your point.

They will either make it, or they won’t.

Might sound dumb but check all your fuses and i mean all. Even if you don’t really think itll relate to your issue. A blown reverse lights fuse under my dash was causing my transmission to bang into gear.

There goes the warranty repair if it was a custom flash…

also, how did you check the fuses? A conductivity test with a multimeter or fuse tester is really the only way to be sure they are good- doing it visually is not reliable.

    Hope it works out ok.

We are not stumped by it. There is a big difference between actually seeing the truck and working on it vs listening to someone tell their problem over the internet and then they get back to you 10 days later. t.

That has not been my general experience with quite a few fixes here on TW. I've seen some really good diagnostics happen here. So, yeah. I'm calling it stumped.
