Did they finally realize, that even the trucks with no lift can have a driveline vibration ?
So with any lift you could have a more pronounced vibration as I do.
And of course the front driverside axle needle bearing has to be replaced with an ecgs bushing as mine did.
Why would they sell these thrucks with craw crawl control, multi terain , rear dif lock , etc.
If you cant put a simple 2 in lift in it?
    With out problems.
Ive have owned a 96,98 and still own a 2002 and never had a problem with any lift, untill this one.
Does this mean there is going to be a TRD recall to add axle shims?

Do you have a howling in the rear end at 55 to 60mph when feathering the throttle (under no load or coasting)?

Interesting. Do you know what degree the new shim is?

Would be great to get OEM driveline angle measurements for baseline reference.

I had to use 4-degree axle shims under my All Pro Expedition leaf spring packs to eliminate a driveline vibration that showed up after the leaf pack install.

I have a vibration at 60-65 with a woop woop woop sound. Ive tried carrier bearing drops down from 2mm to an inch with no luck.
I was at the dealership yesterday for a 20000 mile service and looked under 4 new ones, and they all had shims maybe 1 or 2 deg.
Ive not tried shims but thats my next step i guess. My vibrations are under acceleration.

I will try to get some pics of the shims, they are painted to match the springs.
I have ran with the overload in and it was worse so I took it back out, also I have ran it about 2 in high and 2.5 and its the same.
So now i will try shims but have no clue which size right now. I am at 24.5 in back and 23 in the front, hub to fender.
Has anyone with the same hight had any luck with shims?

You've got to measure the driveline angles and figure out the working angles of the u-joints. Every truck will be different and that's the only way you'll know what degree shims you need. Otherwise you'll be playing an endless guessing game and wasting money on parts and labour.

I went back and added pics to my first post.
I also went in and talked with the service manager and he said he did not know that Toyota added the shims in the TRD"s .
But every one of them on the lot has them.
I am going to email Toyota and ask why they are putting them in. Can anyone tell by the pic what deg they are?

I will get one tomorrow afternoon.

I'm really curious now. Maybe this is part of their fix for the diff howl?

Anyone with shims have the howl? (Plz say no)

My truck is a 2016 and there are no added taperd shims as in the 2017, I just looked under the new 2017's when I was getting my truck serviced. As I have read that a lot of 2016's have noise and vibrations, also the 3rd gens are 1 inch higher in the rear than the. 2nd gens, this must have been acomplished by a more arched spring which may have caused the problems, and the fix may be taperd shims. If so maybee all 2016's should have them, lift or no lift. As the taperd shims are about an 1/8" in the front and 3/16" at the back.

If we have the Shims and the Howl then it looks like its not caused by Driveline Angles.
