2017 TRD OR Power Loss

    Icon extended travel 2.0 coilovers, ICON 2.0 rear reservoir shocks, tubular uniball UCA's, 1.5" AAL, 285/70/17 KM3, 17x8.5 0 offset 4.75BS Method 308 ROOST Bronze wheels, 30" bumper mounted LED light bar, Redline hood struts, Peak Performance LED H11 bulbs, LEER 100XR shell, AVID off road sliders, RCI IFS, transmission and transfer case steel skid plates, Caliraised bed stiffener, faux TRD Pro grill, Bushwacker pocket fender flares. Kicker speaker upgrade, Weathertech floor mats, hiflo filter and TRD CAI inner fender to airbox gasket, trailer brake controller.
    I've had this happen on several occasions where I push on the accelerator and the truck does nothing then responds, I am also noticing a lot of engine knock. I have used several different types of fuel and the same is occurring. Any ideas before I go to the dealership where they won't be able to replicate.

    I think that's pretty normal for this engine. On the knocking, I'm not sure hopefully you get some good responses.

    I believe it could be the characteristics of the Atkinson engine. It takes a little getting used to. There are times where it's a little scary because you expect instant feedback and it's not there.

    it's a ping or whatever they call it.. it's discussed in the tuning thread in this section. mine does it as well 1000 to 1500 rpms cruising.

    these trucks should not have an issue on 87.. no one buys a low power truck to run premium fuel lol.

    I run 87 because fuck it.. it's a pinger.

    Define the knocking? Is it faint and only happens from time to time or is it constant and noticable?

    mine only does it when around 1000 to 1500 rpms and trans downshifts as I roll on the throttle increasing load.

    I think it's poorly executed ECU programming. The 2.7L does this too.

    I don’t feel this. I always use medium grade, but frankly, I don’t think that makes a difference. I’m just an idiot and like to waste money.

    The knocking/Pinging occurs randomly sometimes while accelerating, and other times just driving down the road it is very noticeable.

    Sometimes I feel like my truck hesitates in certain rpm ranges, almost like it's not advancing the timing. It's probably impossible to capture the knocking on video but I'd be interested in hearing it if you get around to it OP

    you should get a obd wifi dongle and a phone app and see if knock sensors detecting anything
