Ask @KDRacing about specifics. His video seems pretty explicit for a stock OR suspension.

Hm. I still find it hard to believe but what does that matter. $37k all in for everything you said is pretty stout. I do wonder if thats just for the truck tho and they gonna give you a $5,000+ bill after they install all that stuff.

No that includes price for parts and install. Just like if you were to order the truck with those items installed

From what it shows in his video, you have chosen the best wheel for the application regarding size and offset.

If I wanted to get a wider stance without using spacers, what would the optimal wheel/tire specs be? I would like to run 285s. I not very familiar with backspace and offset.

I loved the stance of my 1st gen but I ran 2" spacers with a 3" fabtec lift.

We still haven't order my parts so I have time to decide.

I also plan to install front/rear armor and am second guessing whether the TRD Fox 2-5 suspension will support the weight.

    Here was my 1st gen

I am happy for you, I want to turn my TRD OR into a version of the Pro eventually. I have researched lifts up and down and what is being said is right on. There are many factors in running 285s, rubbing/no rubbing. It seems like 95% of the people running 285s and doing a decent type of off-roading needed to CMC.

I just can't get past the fact that you got $5,000 plus worth of parts, the install and the truck for 37k.

Ok, I may be one in a minority group of thinking, but I feel the op. I just want it the way I want it and not have to take it somewhere else and not have my truck for days. Just get it done, the way I want it from the start. Can't wait to see it.

    1. Don't let the penny pinchers sway you. Do what you like. It's a lot easier to have it done. As pointed out, full warranty too! Although there is a sense of accomplishment with modding you Tacoma yourself and with other enthusiast.

    2. The big issue with the 'will it rub' question is you have people that say 'not at all' but all they do is 'mall crawl'. If you plan to actually run trails and articulate your suspension it will rub and not allow you full lock when the tire is stuffed. I'm at 3" lift on BP-51s and I still run 265s just for that reason. And they look great.

    3. Enjoy your Tacoma!

Thank you that is exactly what I am wanting to do. It was tough giving up my 1st gen, which took years to get it just how I wanted. I figured getting a new truck I wanted to start with the majority of the mods/upgrades from the get go. That's one of the main reasons I want to get the suspension and wheels/tires right.

Thanks, I'm not worried about the hatters. There are always three or four that are jealous, wished they got a better deal, or just made better decisions. Hell some just like to surf the internet and complain. I've been on TW for years and 99% of the members are great with good advice.

I think most of them also forget my truck is new with only 100 miles on it. Which means I will be able to sell a lot of my parts like wheels/tires, exhaust (possibly) and the suspension. Don't suspect to get top dollar but probably worthy of a new front armor and my tint job. So again I suspect coming out a lot cheaper than others. Sure I could of waited and pieced it together over the next year or so but why.

Yea the rubbing is a tough one. I do hit the trails and wheel on the weekends so I want sufficient travel and clearance, but also my DD. Be nice if someone would say xxx lift, with xxxx tires/wheels equaled no trimming.

I'm definitely loving it so far since it's been 14 yrs since having a MT

A lift does not magically make your wheel wells bigger. A lift will only help you tires clear at ride height. When the tire is stuffed and the suspension bottoms it doesnt matter if you have no lift or 3 inches of lift. A 33" tire is going to rub no matter what. You are likely going to have to chop your cab mount, trim your fender liners, and hammer the pinch weld.[/QUOTE]

Yea definitely what I was afraid of. Didn't mind trimming/chopping on my 1st gen as it was old and paid off lol. Hard to do on something brand new
