2017 TRD PRO Decal Questions / Pros vs. Cons

Discussion in '3rd Gen. Tacomas (2016-2023)' started by frankybones, Oct 1, 2018.

?

Remove or Keep Vinyl Stickers?

  1. Keep - Yes, it looks cool

  2. Remove- No, it looks cheesy and takes away from the overall look of the truck

  3. Keep - Adds Value and will be better in long run?

I ordered a heat gun from Amazon Prime today so I should have it by the weekend.

No no no.... id be REALLY careful with a heat gun. Would not use unless trainned for decal removal. Too powerful; it can ruin the paint.

    Use your girl’s blow dryer.

    This and that...
When it comes down to it, they are stickers on a truck. Each to their own, but I grew away from showing off stickers on my vehicles in high school.

Removed mine with the 3M Sticker Re-mover wheel. Personally did not trust myself with a heat gun and my truck's paint... May take a bit more time but much safer.

Edit: This one has a lot of good reviews too.

Hmm, how come some Pro's come with the decals and some don't? It might be an American/Canadian thing, or possibly an option only available with white or blue...

It’s an option that anybody can pick on the pro. I wouldn’t use the term limited, as that implies “limited availability”, these were only limited cuz no one liked them so very few ordered them.

Hmm, must've been sleeping during that part of the sale. Doesn't matter much because I wouldn't have checked that box, but it makes me think about what random, rarely spec'd, options will make people nerd-out in 20-30 years when these trucks are classics. Maybe the trucks with original decals will be highly sought after.

Just park your rig in the sun for a few hours, it’ll get warm enough. No heat gun or blow dryer needed. Just decide soon or else the paint underneath will fade unevenly once you do decide to peel it off.

I did mine in the winter and used a blow dryer. Very easy. Do the sun thing, blow dryer if needed. Probably won't. I personally would not use a heat gun on a new truck.

Started peeling it at the gas station on my way home last night next thing you know I was in the gym parking lot like a mad man peeling away. Still need some time to get the hood done but it was easier than expected. Looks much better without the stickers. Need Tires now

I think all the decal edges would be a pain when applying wax.
