That's the dilemma. I want to preserve it. But I want to use it. The latter is going to win this weekend.

And the cement rocks my socks. I see so many heads turn.

You guys realize they aren't Hemi Cudas, right?

In 40 years, there aren't going to be "barn find" Tacoma TRD Pros selling for $200k.

    They're trucks, use them.

Exactly, had this debate with another member here who tried to tell me pro's will fetch the same difference over a TRD new come time for resale, and justifying paying sticker for one, sorry its not a corvette, zl1, etc. its a tacoma, no one is going to pay significantly more in search of it years from now, they will keep making them as they have in some variant or another since 2012 (first bajas which were the original pros). Still cool trucks but hardly collectible items.

Yep still aren't collectible items, desirable, reputation built on QDR, good resale, popular amongst off road community and have established a following, yes.

Maybe you can share the vision with us while we wait..
And what could he possibly be having done that needs to be done at the dealer? The truck has 18 miles on it.
I want to get on board here, but you've got to give a little more

I'm confused here..why not do all of this work to a base model instead?

The use of LineX on exterior body panels has a great tradition of covering up ex-girlfriends key scratched comments. I think we all know who the owner of this vehicle is and why he is being proactive this time.

Guys, can't we all just be happy for @kuffer14 ?

I see what you are saying, but I doubt the OP stated he bought it because it was going to be a collectible.

I never thought they would sell for more than I paid but if you leave it a trd pro, you can get most of your money back. A friend of mine bought a 13 $runner trd pro, he drove it 30,000 miles and lost only 1500 when he sold it at the auction. He paid msrp for it.

Sure perhaps they will fetch slightly more on resale, however it will still be practically the same percentage of resale. Pay more for a pro, depreciates at the same right, get more money back. However when your depreciation percentage stays the same, you really don't make any more money.

I'm reminded of the time my wife and I bought our first car. We wanted something reliable, affordable and utilitarian. We went to the Subaru dealership, met with a pretty decent sales guy. Told him what we wanted- base model Impreza wagon, manual trans, no power package. He said "Have you looked at the Impreza Outback?"

I glanced at it, it had a hood scoop, some suspension tweaks, a two tone paint job, some other crap and was like $3,000 more. (this is 1991 or so). I said "If you take all that stuff off that makes it an Outback, pile it on the floor, is it worth the extra $3,000?".

    He said- "No".

    There you have it.

The Pro will depreciate at a constant rate. You might get lucky if you buy one, garage it, never drive it and 25 years from now it may command a premium, but for all intent and purposes it will depreciate if used or not. The question is "Is all that stuff, piled on the floor, worth the extra cost to buy it?"

Why does it bother me more when people who have extra money laying around waste it so frivolously?

Whatever you say bud, hardly enough percentage wise come time for resale over what guys are paying for offroads or sports in comparison. Keep living in your fantasy world. Can't wait to see your pro at Barrett Jackson in a few years...

Exactly. And looking at the used market most used buyers aren't going to shell out a bunch more for a used pro over a TRD, anyone who has been around these trucks for awhile and had a few, bought a few knows that. Too much sense in your post.

Traded in the last one, going to start modifying this soon.
That doesn't bother me quite as much as the thought of sitting in a seat that someone else has already farted in before I did ... probably why I just barely tolerate flying.
