Long story short.. I test drove 4 different Pro’s. Couldn’t really test drive how I wanted. Looks great. Rides like shit. Transmission shifts, gas mileage. Damn. I love it but something has to change. Any suggestions?

Take a picture of your suspension. Doesn’t look like you still have the stock Fox pro suspension anymore.

    From what?
As far as the ride, check tire pressures and whatever suspension “upgrades” were added.
Are they E rated tires by chance?

I’ll get some tomorrow. Dealership said it was. I got the extended warranty through Toyota.. this is why I went after a pro to what I thought was ready too roll.

    I wish I did… I don’t. They barely had it up. It’s only got 20k on it.

Looks like a rust belt truck as there appears to be fluid film applied everywhere. But who knows what the previous owner(s) had done to the truck.

Is that front strut leaking or what is all that mess ?
What tire pressure are you running ?
My stock pro rides great… so if ride quality is what you’re after you may want to start unmodding all that

What were you driving prior to this? Meaning, you have a body on frame truck with mud tires. It’s not gonna be a cushy ride.

not saying there isn’t some underlying problem, but what is the point of reference for you? It’s a nice truck either way.

And it looks to high to be stock trd pro suspension but I can’t really tell. You don’t have a shitty spacer lift or similar that would explain, so what else did they tell you about it.

Really sharp truck! Ride issue - not stock. You have an inexpensive suspension lift that is causing that. Stock Pro's ride very cushy in my experience. Fuel economy - bite the bullet as they do not do well. A tune may help a little, depending on your driving habits. Transmission shifting - factory tune is horrible. A good tune will virtually eliminate this complaint. Good luck and enjoy that truck.

Sorry OP, I'm afraid that Pro is far from stock...lifted, LT285/75s on aftermarket wheels, wheel spacers (?). Hard to say what else has been done to it. Hopefully it was just a mall crawler regarding past use.

Welcome to TW, @lnc_larson, and good luck with the new Pro!

If you get a truck, then do the following:

    - For transmission issue, get a tune.
    - For gas, that's the reason you have aftermarket tires which decrease the gas mileage. If it was me, I don't care. If you want at least 30, then get a car, not a truck.
    - If it rides shit, then change shocks, leaf, etc whatever that makes your ride go smooth and nice.

From what I see the pictures underneath... If I were you, walk away (unless you are willing to clean all that up or take it to detailing shop.)

You have a some sort of lift on factory Fox shocks. It might be the Eibach lift springs because, I believe the Westcott lift is a spacer.

You also have 285/75R16's that are E rated.

Both of these will decrease fuel economy and reduce ride quality. I would look at tire pressure as a quick fix for ride quality, for fuel economy return it to stock.

Now is this oil? Or a rust proofing product? If it's oil, you have a bad leak somewhere.

I bought the truck. I love it.. I just want better. Rust proofing. I live in MN so that was a must before I bought.
