    Hey everyone,

I have a 2017 TRD Pro with the factory suspension, and am in the midst of doing some work that I want to be sure wont result in me needing to replace the suspension.

I’ll be added roughly 200 lbs as a bed rack, 150 lbs for my ikamper mini, 200~ lbs of gear in the bed when on the road, and when sleeping, up to 400lbs of human weight (stationary/static weight).

Can anyone speak to the fox suspension that the PRO came with in the 2017 model so that I can make an educated decision as to if I need to upgrade anything? If I need to do something here, money’s not necessarily a concern if it means protecting the integrity of the truck or gear I’m hauling, but I don’t want to spend money unnecessarily.

    Can anyone weigh in here?

You'll probably sag a bit with that added weight but it's not going to damage anything.

Thanks - you think it'll sag without the static weight, and just the added armor, gear, and RTT on it?

Anyone else with experience with these fox shocks have any other thoughts?

With 600+ lbs in the bed its going to sag some, your shocks aren't the issue its the weak leaf springs in these trucks.

If you have a large trash can put it in your bed & fill it with water, easy way to see how much it will sag at different weights.

Your shocks will have nothing to do with the added weight. It's your leaf packs that will be hurting. At most I'd say an add-a-leaf, or even airbags. But the shocks themselves will be fine

Your problems are Leaf Springs. You need heavy-duty leaf springs for that kind of weight.

550 lbs constant load? I’d be ordering some Dakars or airbags.

Add a leaf ain’t going to cut it.

55 gallon trash can full of water weighs in at around 460 lbs, so this is a perfect easy way to find out how much it will sag.

thanks for all the help here y’all.

If I’m open to upgrading the leaf springs, but wouldn’t want more than a 1-1.5” lift in the rear when unloaded from gear and RTT (still constant 200 ish lbs in rack system), what options would you all recommend here?

I'm satisfied with the Firestone Ride Rite air bags and Daystar cradles. This gives you a lot of flexibility and works well with the pro suspension.
Adding weight to the bed or a trailer?...add more air to level it out. A bike pump or portable air compressor works fine.

Even with an AAL you'll sag a bit with all that weight - the pro suspension is pretty soft. I'm running a single AAL and still sag slightly when my RTT is mounted or I'm towing my boat.
