My tailgate will lock but will not unlock. I checked the actuator and it does not have the power to unlock. Has any have or had this experience. I assume the actuator is bad. All I have found is a kit. I do not want to buy the kit just the actuator. Does anyone know the OEM actuator part number?

Did you add this? or buy truck with it. 17's didn't have that option of power tailgate. Asking, because are you sure it's oem. Have you checked connection in kick panel?

17 had no power tailgate. I just bought the Amazon "OEM" kit for $62.00 for my 17. I will be installing it this week weather permitting.

if it doesn’t have power to the unlock, it sounds more like a wiring issue to me. Exactly. How are you testing the actuator and determining that it does not have power to the unlock?

Bought truck new came from the factory with it. Not a wiring issue cause you can see it trying to work.

It was port, or dealer installed then. If you can see it trying to work, it has a bad/dirty, connection/contact most likely. Not getting full voltage.

ok, so you didn’t check voltage, but visually verified. Solenoid may be bad, if you’re getting full voltage.

Disconnect actuator from latch mechanism and see if it cycles. If it still does not travel fully, replaced actuator assembly.

Aftermarket actuators are available for about $75. The Toyota actuator seems to only be available in the kit, about $130

Thanks for everyone's reply. I will check voltage as well as voltage drop, and check the actuator movement. Crazy Toyota doesn't sale the actuator by itself. Will buy aftermarket if it needs it.

Gone are the days you can individually, almost all items are kitted w like components. They do less, make more, can’t say I blame em.

as mentioned; the actuator was added and even the ‘OE’ kit looks nearly identical Chinesium aftermarket.
