2017 TRD Sport spark plugs

So before I get blasted, I did a search for my issue and couldn't find what I was looking for. I need to change the plugs. I bought some platinum plugs from the parts store that was said to be the plugs I needed. I pulled a plug and saw it was denso FK20HBR8 three pronged plug. So I checked the manual and it calls for FK20HBR8. I began searching for the plugs online and it seems denso changed the plugs from 3 pronged to a single prong with the same part number. Even when I do find the 3 prongs, everywhere says it doesn't fit my truck. Is there anyone who can help me with this spark plug issue I am having? Thanks in advance.

 

what ever you do use what the owners manual lists for brands/model numbers. and don't buy the plugs from EBAY or AMAZON

 

Even if denso changed the plugs? Like is the three prongs necessary or will the single prong work as long as it's the same part number?

 

Many spark plug mfrs have separate part numbers and "stock numbers" for the same part. The Denso plug has stock number "3491". Rock Auto has them for $11.60 ea.: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=5706984&jsn=3

 

I checked there earlier. I need 6 and they only have 5 in stock. I guess I could wait until they get more in stock.

 

OP, just curious, these plugs should be good for at least 100K miles. Why are you changing them out?

The owners manual says to change them at 60k. I currently have 78k. I couldn't bring myself to pay $650 for the dealer to do it.

Not close for me so I never looked. 60K is really early for these plugs, can you post a pic of the one(s) you pulled so far?

 

I know that's why I'm doing it myself. Well if I can find the correct spark plugs.

60k to change the plugs in the manual and per denso website as well.

 

lots of fake plugs that really aren't OEM Toyota/DENSO/NGK, better off going to the dealer they can pop in ur VIN # and walla instant correct plugs for ur application

 

Yea I was trying to save a few bucks. But it looks like that's going to be the best option. I called and they have them in stock. It seems like I'll just bite the bullet and pay $20 bucks a plug.
