If you ever go off road get the Off Road. If you never go off road get the one that looks better. If you never go off road and you think looks are a wash, get the Off Road. Better resale and better to have and not need than need and not have.

I honestly do not understand why the OR has a 2WD option.

Sport has a more solid feeling road feel. The OR has a softer suspension for Off-road driving and locking differential plus crawl control on automatic models.

Because the Rear Locker is available on that model, it has the same look as a 4WD, and not everyone thinks they need 4WD. It is a Pre Runner, as in pre-running off road races, nearly all of which are run in 2WD.

About that chart... Did you guys notice "AWD" used instead of 4WD (for the Tacoma, and maybe the others that are NOT ALL WHEEL DRIVE)? AWD is FULL TIME four-wheel drive. 4WD is PART TIME four-wheel drive.

    sport
    - sunglass holder

    off-road
    - oversized MTS/Crawl control in the sunglass holder location........that could have easily just been made smaller or placed elsewhere

I mean, I get what you're saying. There are plenty of 2WD options though. Technically, all of those are pre runners, right? I'm just thinking for an "off road" model, 4WD should be standard.

I personally would never own any truck or SUV without 4WD... because going solo into Baja or the desert is such a big part of my life. That said, I don't need 4WD for 95% of the roads I take. I use it, but the only places 4WD is a must are places that the road is pretty much gone, washed out, or deep sand. Lowering air pressure in the tires will get you through a lot of that. It is certainly a lot easier on the truck to have 4WD than to gun it up steep, rocky roads where you could break stuff. 4WD allows you to go slow, save the parts... drive it home!

Wise man once told me that 4 wheel drive is for when you have gone as far as you can in 2 wheel drive, and need to back up.

And all I'm saying is this chart doesn't mean a dam thing with out a key. Ok, I'll say something else, my sport handles corners at speed very well for a truck, which is why I bought the sport trim.

You can get a color matched rear bumper on Off Roads too as long as you get the tech package.

I figured when I bought my 4x2 TRD Off Road that I wouldn't need 4x4 in probably 95% of my driving. For hunting season, if need be, I have a 88 Grand Waggy, 83 Scrambler And 80 CJ7 if shit gets that rough.

But... since you don't have crawl control, does that mean you too have a sunglasses holder? Inquiring minds want to know.

Unless you buy the manual OR. Then you get the sunglasses holder.
