Kind of having a mental breakdown over this, would love everyones opinions on the truck(s)

I bought a 2017 TRD Sport for 30K it came with steps and rain guards on the windows, the TRD pro grill, and the bug deflector.

We added on 4k of accessories so we were looking to finance 34k before warrantees and whatnot

but when we were looking I asked the sales guy if there were any other trucks I could look at, he said they were 2022s but they were "out of my price range'' and that was the end of that.

My husband was super excited and agreed to the 17, I thought it was the best I could do with our budget, so we got it. I've always wanted a tacoma.

Later I looked at this dealerships website and they had 2022 and 2023 SR5 for 31-37k, same miles as mine, so obviously I was pissed, because if I knew I could afford a 1-2 year old truck over a 7 year old one, obviously I would've went for that. Also I didn't even get to look at the other trucks, and although I signed the paperwork I felt like I wasn't shown all my options. I've been back a couple times to try and figure it out and they don't have a trade in policy. I asked the salesman why he didn't show me the newer ones and he said they were 37k and he thought I couldn't afford them..? but we financed for 34k and after taxes and all the warrantees and add ons I financed for 43k. they keep saying " its a good truck" and "theyre both 3rd generation so theyre the same" and I got a better engine. but he knew I didn't need the engine?? I told him I don't drive much, id like to take the truck to work, take my dogs out for some hikes, I never mentions needing to tow anything, (I don't know how but maybe ill learn?) so my other beef is he chose a better engine FOR me instead of letting me look at my options and choose myself. He said the trd holds value better than the SR5 and last longer. The dealershiop has been very nice and willing to talk, they even refunded me my bed cover when I realised I couldnt use it (it never touched my truck)

So did I get played? Or is the dealership giving good advice and its a good quality tr?

Are the warrenntees worth it? I thought the total protection for 7 year would be a good idea, but now I'm just panicking and the dealership is kind of saying tough luck you signed

So short version, same priceish, same miles,
TRD Sport for 30K with steps, rain guards, TRD pro grill, and the bug deflector.

    or

    2022 SR5 plain

Please be kind I know I made a lot of rash decisions but I would love truck peoples opinions on this whole deal. I'm in Massachusetts, and I can get a refund on all the warrantees in the next two weeks.

Ugg. Really it's buyer beware here. There is, to me, a lot that went wrong here. If you financed 43k, you really could have gotten a brand new, end of year, 2024 SR5 with no extras but it's a brand new truck.

My 2017 I just sold had 28k and did not have any issues like timing case cover or xOver leak (yet) and got $27k outright. You didn't state how many miles on the 2017?

What really brought the truck up from $30K to $43k other than the $4k in extras and what were those extras?

And at the end of the day, if your happy, you got yourself a Tacoma. A great truck.

    Welcome to TW. :)

it has 43k miles on it.
remote start, heated seats, a bed cover(returned), documentary preparation fee? mainly warrantees drove it up, pretty much if anything happens to this truck or the tires I'm covered. which I was worried about because I know the parts and tires on a truck could be expensive. but I can get a return on the warrentees. I think they saw a girl buying a truck and took me for a ride. but it is a nice truck so I'm not sure?

If the heated seats are factory then you have the Premium/Tech Package with other cool features. Here is the brochure on your 2017.

One more thing is low mileage Tacomas like yours do hold their value. Welcome to TW.
