I should snap some photos of mine and post them up for reference. Maybe tomorrow or this weekend since it's raining.

Great write up DC, mine are inbound as we type. Ordered them the other night, got the $40 off deal. Stoked about pulling the trigger finally.
While appreciate your technique, I am pulling the grill. I've had it off before and like you, big heads little arms.

I wonder if the wiring is the same on all the third gens. Green & Red and Black & White. Would be neat if.......

Either way, this thread and your review has given me extra confidence.
    Thanks,
    Rob

You'll be very happy with these in there. And yes since I wrote this I had the grill off for a different reason and it seems that the way to go.

Let us know about the wiring, will be good info for future peeps.

Cool, yea. I will. Again, great write up! Can't say enough how much it will help me. I am not the dullest tool in the shed, but I ain't the sharpest either when it comes to electronics.

Also, I'm thinking about adding a new Hikari Phillips bulb to the high beam and low beams. We have a thread over here we'd like to welcome you to:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/led-lighting-conversion.436865/page-93#post-17300892

Its a great thread with a shit load of testing, reviews and pics to back everything up. It's LED specific but we aren't prejudiced. HIDs are welcome too.

You just need a stubby Philips and 15-20 min. No need to take off grille, bumper or fender liners. If I can do it, ANYBODY can. It really is that easy.

Ok, just installed the fogs. Definitely for me, removing the grill and the two air deflectors behind it which took 5 minutes total was easy enough.

Wiring is the same as everyone else. Red/green, black/white. 2017 TRD Sport with the tech package .

Ok, I installed one, there was a gap between the housing and shroud. I had the two inboard tabs in the two slots. Had the screw in. It looked almost like the gap in the OEM side but definitely more. When I put the other side in, I put the two tabs in front of the two slots and put the screw in and there was no gap. I redid the other side and the gap disappeared.

I guess I'll have to wait until tonight to see if there is a huge gap in the beam of light in the middle. If so I'll redo it and live with the gap. It was definitely more of a gap than the OEM housing. Enough to make wonder if I had it right. I'm getting ready to run and do some chores. Oh, I did wiggle the housing and it felt secure. I'm just worried I have it wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't those tabs what keeps it from falling off on the side that doesn't have a screw in it? So by not putting them in the tabs they are subject to moving around?

I drove the shit outta it tonight and never saw any bounce. Still unsure if it's ok though. When I put the lights in they actually felt very secure like this.

I'm hoping someone else can chime in.

I am completely satisfied with the results of these fogs, with the Philips Hikari leds in my low beams.

Received mine in the mail yesterday. Installed tonight.

    Easy. From the top.

Picture is awkward. Getting a glare of the DRL’s above where they actually are.

How does the color temp of the Hikari’s blend in with the fogs? Mine are a little different. The DRL’s and the fogs are spot on

I honestly can't tell where one stops and the other begins. To me all three are pure white. Now, the fogs are definitely not as bright as the Hikaris but I can't tell any difference in temp. I have yet to be flashed in any condition out here in the country.

The other night it was a little foggy and I was turning off the LBs leaving the DRL and Fogs on and it was acceptable. At 50 - 60 in the fog, out here in the country, it's not something I will do all the time. No need to, because I didn't feel like the Low Beams were throwing a lot of reflections. Definitely not enough to cause concern. I expected more considering how much whiter they are than the OEM Halogens.

Yes. I did mine when I got them, but because it was in the "heat of winter" when I installed the film the film didn't come out perfect. I have new film to redo them now. I did install indoors, warm, and with soapy water. However, the cold temps outside probably didn't allow the film to settle right and the moisture to escape properly - so I got bubbling and edge ripples after installing the lights on the truck. Patience is a virtue.

Just wanted to post an update on my Morimoto Fog Light install. I was the guy that mounted the tabs forward of the two slots thus forcing the lens of the fog light assembly up against the shroud. Well, nearly 3.5 months and still no issues.

I also replaced my Hikari Philips bulbs in the Low/High beams with Xenon Depot Pro Extreme bulbs. I like them better. They are the same color temp as the Morimoto and DRL.

(fogs and DRLs are off here)

So i ordered the Morimoto HID kit with the 6500 bulb, also installing the Morimoto Fog Kit (couldnt resist the price) After reading I noticed many people went with the 5500 bulb. Should I not have done the 6500??

I used to run 6000k (Hikari) and switched to 5500k Xenon Depot. I could not tell a difference in color. I doubt you would not notice a difference between the 5.5k or the 6.5k........They just might not match your DRLs so much.
