Just found these on my service history on the Toyota page. All that CarFax described was “fuel injector serviced”.

I once had an angry ex who I could see doing something like this.

To the OP, sorry you’re having to deal with this. If it were me I’d get rid of the truck. For your next used car purchase I suggest using Autocheck instead of CarFax. In my experience Autocheck gives a more accurate report than CarFax does. YMMV

FYI 2 years ago my girlfriends car a 2014 Ford Escape , light on dash said service transmission . Went to Ford and for $300 they took it apart and showed us all the metal shavings . He put new oil in it and said it won't last long . I asked him if this will show up on the carfax and he said NO .

Not even sure what to do anymore. Second time this damn things been towed to Toyota. Hopefully they’ll take pity on me and not charge another $380 again to just tell me they don’t know what’s wrong with it. About to just pay for a new truck off the lot at this point. Here’s a link to a video of the startup.

I would think a bad ecu.

    Diesel fuel wouldn’t do this.

They hooked up a different ecu last time and it still threw the same codes. Then miraculously started working again afterwards... Until today.

According to the tech notes, it only popped one recurring code; P020613.

i would take it to a real mechanic and stop messing with the dealerships. my experience with dealerships are over priced for the ability of the techs working on the vehicle.

At this point I’m just ready to be rid of the thing. I look at it now with disgust that I paid 35k for something that’s supposed to be reliable. I’m afraid to drive it more than 5 minutes from my home in fear it’ll shit out on me yet again.

They may have to replace it again if its faulty or there's an overcharging issue or short causing it to blow.

That being said, It sounds like it’s got good compression, gas and spark at start, and then it just gives up the ghost. Could be the injectors getting cutting off by a faulty ecm or fuel pump.

At any rate, please keep us posted and let us know how they treat you and what they find.
    Good luck

Also, forgot to mention. The tow truck driver was able to get it started by literally flooring the pedal to the floor as we started it. And even then it wasn’t getting over 1000rpm. The engine sputtered and the truck shook like crazy and eventually died out.

Both keys are chipped and the fuel pump was replaced literally 2 days ago.

Not sure. It’s whatever the recall was about.
