If that feature makes people actually use turn signals, I'm all for it.

Unfortunately too many people have proven they can't be safe behind the wheel. Whether it be under the influence or checking their phone. I personally think the technology to stop a car rather than run into the rear of the car in front is a good thing. I trust a beeping computer a heck of a lot more than someone checking in on their phone to see if they got any likes on their Facebook post.

The tail lights on the 2018 have a black chrome inside instead of the silver on previous years.

It's gentle, but it's there, steering you back into the lane and towards whatever is in the lane. I guess you can turn the GM "lane assist" off as well but it's not just a button.

My 2018 also came with rear cross traffic alert. I normally back into my driveway so I pull straight out but last night I ran back in quickly and backed out of my driveway and had a car flying down my road as I was coming out and it alerted me which side the car was coming from before I saw or heard it. It truly impressed me...

I have this on my 16 OR with a cap . I really like it when backing out in parking lots with vehicles AND people coming from both ways . Yes , it alerts when people are walking by , great feature .

I am struggling with getting an OR in either 2018 or 2017. There are still some TRD OR 2017's on the lot with deep discounts. I like Blind Spot monitoring but not sure if it's worth that much to me. I can save about $4K with the 2017. Nice safety features in the 2018 but are they $4K nice? hmmm

Are you sure about the 17 safety features? I have a 17 with blind spot and backup monitoring, but what it doesn't have is adaptive cruise control (fine with me) and front parking sensors (also fine with me). If I were you I'd get the 17, which is what I did a few months ago. Probably even cheaper now.

You're going to have to find a "17 that has what you want on it now.....It's pretty late at this point.

Get the 17 or wait for electric steering . Until the tacoma gets electric steering ,the safety sense is a minimal upgrade and just an annoyance .
