Perfect time of year for Catskills, enjoy!

Car did well on the terrible Catskills backroads.

    B81A05B3-5328-49E1-95A0-B4F434552FFE.jpg

it rained a ton and have yet to have water leak in again. I’ll keep an eye on it.

Also, had a low coolant light come on but I think it was just a tad low from the coolant that spilled out when I installed the reroute and the T state being used for the first time in a while. Topped off and 1k miles since without issue.

Overall I'm loving this new daily. The Atlas wheels are heavier but the wider track width is welcomed. The OEM look of the wheels make it worth it 100%

I'm really tempted to upgrade the headlights and tune it, but only after GME hits 4 figures :D

    Update:

Pano hasn't leaked but I have an appointment next week with the dealer to go over the broken mirror cap, cracks in windshield, and other small items I noticed since I bought the car. I'm going to toss in that the vent in the rear has a missing tab as well, and see if it's something they can cover as well.

Also, on the low coolant light issue, I think I know what it is.

I checked the hose today and on the radiator elbow it had signs of a leak, which I thought was stange.

So I googled a bit and found this:

    https://www.vwvortex.com/threads/coolant-isssue-after-installing-ie-intake.9464317/

This guy has the same intake and the same issues with low coolant randomly.

Upon browsing it seems that a check valve needs to be in the coolant line in order to get everything to function properly.

IE doesn't include this bit of information or the valve in their $35 dollar coolant line, which is a huge oversight. I'm going to transfer the check valve over tonight and see if that solves the issue.

APR instructions for transferring check valve: https://documents.goapr.com/ci100033a_mqb_coolant_hose.pdf

Racingine hose that is identical to the IE one but includes the check valve: https://www.racingline.com/vwr17-g7r600

    Check valve to trnasfer:

Got the check valve out of the stock host and into the IE hose.

    FCB96E4D-DA96-4906-82C9-2DCEDD2F3C74.jpg

From stock it was in the end that was closest to the radiator with the chamfered end being in the direction to the radiator.

the means the flow is from the radiator and to the engine. I put the check valve closer to the engine on the other side in the same orientation, with the chamfered edge facing the radiator.

After a test drive and shutting the car off it no longer whines as the flow back to the radiator is blocked off. Glad I only drove without it for a few thousand miles! Most people don’t even run one and I’m sure that’s bad for the pump!

right? Annoying when companies don't do their DD.

I'm glad I found it, who knows what it would've worn out.

Now to Monday to see what they say about the misc other issues. None are big, but the brakes being needed to replaced after only 4000 miles is annoying a bit

What's the warranty on the brakes?

    Subaru it's 3 years/36,000 miles or 1 year/unlimited mileage, whichever is longer.

No idea, but it is a CPO so it shouldn't be squeaking already IMO

Okay so met with Faulkner VW Mechanicsburg and I'm happy with the overall service I got.

    • They addressed the rattling noises (loose fender liner metal clips hitting metal frame)
    • The checked the pads and it's just a buildup of material causing the squealing. I'll upgrade to EBC redstuffs next time
    • They looked at the mirror and instead of replacing just the cap they're giving me a whole mirror replacement
    • the windshield is OEM from factory and not cracked through, just weird scratches
    • Ran the vehicle through their car wash twice to find the pano leak, but it didn't leak. Instead, on the way out I saw my headliner was wet and the water was coming in from the rear passenger side door so I'm getting a new door too apparently

We'll see if they actually do all the repairs. its a Certified Pre Owned so everything is covered and they should.:fingerscrossed:

Well after waiting for a loaner I finally dropped my car off for repair

They’re going to try and repair the door so it seals before ordering a new one.

when I dropped it off I asked them to check the water pump as I smelled coolant and sure enough the seal is bad so they’re replacing it free of charge.

I also asked them to check my center console 12v as it seems to not be working when the other one does, and they’re both on the same fuse.

overall besides the delays Faulkner VW has taken good care of me

Turd loaner jetta. What a time to lose heated seats lol

5000 miles on the thing and it’s filthy with a CEL for an emissions issue and a broken visor clip lol
