2017 VW Alltrack - Nimble9's first Euro Car aka the DadWagon

Here's how I explain VW ownership to folks: They are not a Toyota or Honda. It is imperative to keep up on the maintenance. I also always suggest looking at known problems and staying ahead of them. VW pays attention moreso than other manufacturers and will issue updated parts. Sometimes they'll cover the repairs. Sometimes they won't.

It's all silly, but I've owned a few VWs that have 200k miles on them and were still a joy to drive. They're a love/hate thing. Especially if you do a lot of your own work. I think it's the driving experience that won me over.

Hell, I'm working on importing an older VW from England as I type this. It's a sickness.

While we’re sleeping in shifts I’m going to list some things that need to be done to the dadwagon:

• collision center needs to replace the steering wheel trim since they gouged it up (or alignment shop did, either way they’re liable and they have the part just need to find the time)
• After the accident front driver side pano leaks in big rain (collision center must look at this too)
• Driver side CV boot needs to be replaced
• Needs another alignment, the collision center’s alignment has the steering wheel slightly crooked STILL after their 2nd attempt
• I gotta trim the inner rear fenders as there is a bit a rub with weight in the rear

At least you don't live in a communist state where it's illegal to fill your own fuel tank.

 

You're the only state left, too! Oregon just passed legislation to stop doing it.

 

I saw that... but it won't be going away with Comrade Murphy on the throne.

 

I never understood the reasoning for it. but the ignorant Oregonian comments about the perils of having to pump their own gas prior to the legislation were rib-crushingly hilarious!

 

People are "sheep".
