Lot of Ridgeline owners in here. Everyone thinks hoods are falling apart, CPS sensors failing, frames rusting out. Its almost come to the point its obvious and ridiculous the real intent. Research the new steel used in the frames and get back with us.

You actually think they are putting out defective CPS's or it was for a short time probably? GMAFB ! You more than likely drove a car with a defective Takata air bag and thought nothing of it. You think ALL tacos have problems with the differentials ? LOL.
With this approach you won't be buying ANY car really.

Just picked up a 2017 a few days ago (TRD OR AT V6). Took it for a long drive with a lot of long hills. The cruise control would downshift into 3rd and it would take some time until it upshifted after leveling off. This occurred on several instances. I don't have any harsh shifting from 1st to 2nd. I don't have any noticeable delayed shifting from P to D or R to D.

The delayed upshift caught my attention and wanted to find out if the 2017's do have the latest transmission software. I see that Jeff Lange indicated so, but is his statement an assumption, or has someone/he verified from a dealer or technician? Not trying to challenge the statement, just curious.

Is there a software version printed somewhere I can read it?

Would a dealer cover a software verification under warranty for the 2017?

Suspension, racks, tune, bed, lights. See build thread.

My 2017 (built 8/16) with 500 miles on it blew out a camshaft sensor and spit oil over the engine. Took it in for warranty work and explained I was having similar shifting issues, and R to D delay. Service adviser said there was no service campaigns for such issues with the 2017's. When I came to pick it up he said that the tech did flash the ECU with an update. R to D delay is gone, dont use the cruise control that much but he explained that it should be fixed.

Ill repeat, the 2017 does not come with the flash pre-installed.

Looks like Toyota will wait for a refresh to get most of these issues under control. So another 3-4 years lol

Mine was built around 08/11/16. Picked it up 09/12/16 and have around 600 miles on it so far.

I went to put on my new wheels and tires at the dealership and informed them of the issue. They flashed my ECU to the newest update after I told them about the delay and cruise control issue I noticed after testing. I asked to check fluid level but they said Toyota does not pay for this anymore and it was only an issue on the first few months of 2016 and has been resolved now.

The shifting from P/R to D issue has disappeared and seems to cruise better although I don't drive much as you can see. So no, all 2017s do not come updated. Maybe depends on when it was built?

Unfortunately Toyota Sevice told me there's nothing they can do to update my 2017 truck. Tech stream clearly showed I had the old calibration number, but because there was no new update for the 2017's showing on the screen, he couldn't do anything. All there was was a "?", under "Update".

I don't know how to use their system, so it's not like I could tell him what to click or do. Pretty frustrating since I know their doing 2016 Tacoma updates.

I haven't actually checked the calibration ID's on newer trucks, any information I posted was based purely on part numbers and their changes.

On Tuesday Toyota said they would perform the update and confirmed I had the old Calibration ID.
On Wednesday Toyota retracted and said it was "not recommended" as it is a 2017, not a 2016, and the system was different.
I'm concerned the early 2017's will fall into a dead zone of not being eligible for the update. Meaning, the 2016's are eligible. The later 2017's may have it, but the early 2017's will not and not enough complaints will be generated to include the early ones.

Honestly, not a fan of the way the auto trans performs (beating a dead horse I know) and knowing there's an update but not being able to get it just upsets me. I recreated my issue with cruise control NOT upshifting from 3rd last night twice. I do have a delay from P to D and a semi-rough upshift from 2 to 3, but it doesn't bother me that much. If I can't get this resolved with my local Toyota, I will likely move on from this truck.

I have an early built 2017 and I had the computer reprogrammed without an issue. They wouldn't check my ATF Fluid though. The drivability and shifting was fixed from what I can see but I've only put about 100 miles on it since last week.

Glad to hear that you were able to get it.
I didn't even bother asking Toyota to check my ATF fluid as I know how our particular dealership is. I had my local mechanic check mine. 3/4 quarts low, FWIW. Not too bad.

I've taken this matter up with corporate and I'm awaiting their response. Going to another dealer is out of the question as I'm in Hawaii (Big Island) and there's two dealers, both owned by the same people. From what I know, Oahu won't even give it to me. I'd have to seek out someone on the mainland if I could mail them my ECU.

Oh Geez I'm sorry to hear that. I'm lucky in the aspect I have about 4-5 dealerships within a 30 minute drive of my house. The closest one is about a 10 minute drive. I have only asked this one dealership though and not sure I will ask to have it checked unless it shows further symptoms. The service writer said to give just the flash a try for now and we will see in the future about a ATF check

I currently Drive a 2017 TRD Sport, I bought it with about 300 miles on it, I took it deer hunting that weekend. I did notice some things with the shifting in cruise control also not in cruise control. Now I have rougly 1100 miles and I always wonder why shifting from 2=3 or 3=4 gear is a bit rough. Its hard for me to explain, but when its about to shift from 3=4 gear it will rev up the rpms and then shift. Don't think thats normal. I have researched a ton and still not sure if there is an issue or not. But sometimes I notice my truck will rev pretty high, then I wonder if its going to shift anytime soon, then boom it shifts into gear.

Sorry for the horrible breakdown, I sure don't Know how to explain this very well but thoughts would be appreciated.

You have a valve body problem with your transmission. This is a common, known issue. Take it to the dealer and demonstrate it to them. Make sure to leave it overnight and park it close to the main street so you can jump out quickly so your first acceleration can make it to 4th gear when you take the tech for a ride. Use about 50% throttle on your acceleration. On a cold morning, you should be able to replicate the issue. If the dealership does nothing, call Toyota customer service and file a complaint. Good luck.

Ordered a 2017 TRD OR DCLB and got a build date during the week of DEC 5. This is one of the items I plan on having checked before I sign anything.

I dont get what you mean on this "park it close to the main street so you can jump out quickly so your first acceleration can make it to 4th gear"
