I'm contemplating a truck change. I have a 2005 tundra v8 DC . Only 57'000 miles on it. Original owner. I'm trying to talk myself out of it. I need very little of a big truck. Lowes home improvement runs for mulch. Ha ha . I'm looking at a DC vs A.C. Price vs Syrian on the 2.7 if that's even an issue. I've owned a 91 22r and own a 2010 2.7 base . My sons truck honestly . I'm racking my brain over this. I have a great truck with no issues . I want another one. Am I going to hate myself. Lol ....Wardawg

Keep the Tundra. I assume it's paid for. Fuel mileage is marginally different. Truck is larger inside and in the bed and more powerful.

Keep the Tundra for now, and purchase the new Tacoma.

See how you like owning and driving the Tacoma.

Then decide if you want to keep or sell the Tundra.

Buy what you like! Life is sometimes short!

I think the 2.7 is a good motor, I havent had one problem with it but if you have a paid off truck with 57,000 miles I would just keep it.

As an honest mechanic's son and vehicle value enthusiast, I'd say it would be financially foolish to get rid of your Tundra with that low of mileage.

That generation is legendary for longevity, handily putting its little brother Tacoma up to the test. Just do the timing belt replacements and maintain fluids, etc., and you'll reach 300k.

Only reason I see to get a newer vehicle is to be a hipster. Which I guess can be a motive :bananadead:

Thanks for the honest replys guys .Yeah I paid cash for it in March of 2005 . $25,000 out the door . It's been flawless. I run full synthetic mobile one and toyota or mobile one filters . I fluid film the frame every fall. It's the itch of a new vehicle. It's been 13 years. I loaded up the miles on my 91 22r truck. It's got 250,000 on it at this time. I sold her to a buddie . I bought my son a 2010 base 2.7 automatic . It is a big difference vs my old 22r Manuel truck . We will see . It's the itch. Thanks again Wardawg

Life’s short. Do what makes you happy if you can afford it. This 2.7 seems to be the best one so far. Updated to dual VVTI, has all the upgraded parts that proved to be weak links on the 2nd gen 4cyl, and the engine/drive train are made in Japan and shipped over. Same set ups as previous I4s. It looks great in this engine compartment. Try to get a manual from ‘17. It’s geared well and is quite zippy.

Swap with the son for a month or two, to get a good feel for it. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind

The 2.7 is beast tho, very peppy when you step on it, it wont feel like your v8 tho and best of all its made in Japan.

    Too few to list.
I have a 2017 2.7 4x4 AC auto. It’s peppy for a 4cyl but when loaded, you’ll know it’s just a 4cyl. If I was in your shoes, I’d keep the Tundra. Unless of course you’re going from RWD and needing 4x4 then that’s a different story.
