Lol I got right at 18 mpg on a 600 mile trip last week... with my Tundra CC 5.7 4WD.

You bought the heaviest combo truck the 2.7 comes in.
Its 2wd so the ratio is higher
It's an auto which is horrible mated to the 2.7. I've had both.
    Your on 33s
    Your hauling a dirtbike
I'm guessing your going 70+ MPH
your not calculating tire size differance

    Mpgs sound spot on

If a tire is 10% bigger in diameter then the stock tire, it's 10% bigger in almost all respects, rolling distance, revolutions per mile etc. Add 10% to the miles traveled, and divide by the gallons consumed

The 2.7I4 is a nice motor but it's more sensitive to things that make it work harder at cruising speed. Drag is a big one, more so than just dead weight.

Is there a better rear end ratio to run?

Glad I could help. Believe it or not, I wasn't trying to be a jerk. I was honestly surprised you were doing that well. I have heavy 265/75/16s and I get about 15.5 (16.1ish corrected) doing 70 in a v6

Easier to claim smiles per gallon when you're getting like 100 mpg

14 is pretty good for carrying all that stuff and having oversize tires. I think I get 14 with an empty truck lol

Is this where I get to brag about my powerstroke getting 14mpg whether it's empty or loaded? :luvya::luvya::luvya:

inb4 "hurr Durr u own a Ford though". Towing the Tacoma with the Ford is faster and more comfortable than driving the Taco long distances :luvya::luvya::luvya:

My work truck is an F550 6.7L Powerstroke. Weighs about 18000 lbs and gets 9 mpg. Pretty comfortable too.
