What is the buy out on your SR? May just want to buy it. 45k is nothing so it will last a long time.

    Welcome to TW.

I played the lease to purchase game. :anonymous:

What really burned me was that I lost out on half a point of interest. When you buy out your lease they count it as a "used" purchase, and as a result you get used car interest rates. I'd definitely recommend purchasing the next one for more reasons than one.

If I remember right, turning the current one in and walking away comes with a $500 charge. But the dirty little secret is that you can turn it in at any dealer. If I were you I'd play the telephone game with dealers that are in Arizona and Nevada, see who is willing to work with you and come up with a model and price that you like. Then turn your lease and make your purchase all in one trip.

Have you checked out base Tundra pricing (new/used)? May get you bigger all around and they are also known for reliability.

If you plan on keeping it long term just buy it outright now. I leased mine Saturday with the intention of turning it in due to corrosion potential on salty MA roads and the beach at the end. My lease then purchase vs purchase now difference was about $2K. One thing that swayed me is $10K down and $485 per month for 72 at 2.29% equaled the entire lease down payment and monthly payments at the end of year one. I plan on buying a new boat this spring, so I figured I’d conserve cash to buy the boat outright.

You may have equity on your current lease, might want to try trading it in and see if you can break even or better now. My folks 2018 Camry has equity, they were offered $3K more than the lease buyout to sell it to carmax without buying anything else.

Yeah, there are used Tacos out there, but they are typically priced within a couple grand of what a new one costs. Plus you have no idea of how a used truck was treated by the previous owner(s). I normally only buy used vehicles because I don’t want to take the hit when you drive a new vehicle off the lot and I don’t mind doing a little work on a used car if the price was right.

Tacoma’s are the exception to the rule though and when I was looking for one it made way more sense financially to just buy new.

I have no problem buying used. Heck I wear used clothes

but all local dealers want $34,000-38,000 for used ones locally

If you only have to pay $17k, there should be some equity in your current truck. I have an SR5 DCLB like the cement one you are looking at....great truck. I think the SR5 is a good value for the level of equipment you get. The TRD Sport is just cosmetic upgrades. Dont bother with the OR model unless you actually need the rear locker.

    Thank you

I do hope to see some equity.

I don’t need sport or OR. But locally toyota forces us to get or/sport if I want 4x4 LB

but if I go to region 600 miles away, I can get the sr/sr5.

I was debating between 4x4 sr v6 dcsb vs sr5 DCLB v6 4x4 and for a bit more I need the lb and it makes sense price wise
