Hey guys. I have a 2018 Pro and the sound system sucks. From what I've read, changing out the tuner creates several issues. My question is: can I just install better speakers and leave the tuner as is? Thanks for any help on this.

I’m assuming you have the JBL system since you have a Pro

it’s basically a full gut to do any meaningful upgrade.

the head unit isn’t powering the system so replacing it won’t change the audio.
The JBL amp sucks. If you replace it, you will need to replace the speakers because your new amp will blow them

Unfortunately, no, I don't have the JBL for some reason. I know that some Pros have it but this one doesn't. I'm thinking I'll probably take it to someone who knows what the hell they're doing for the upgrade. I very much appreciate the reply!

You can leave the tuner as is if you run a DSP, amp and new speakers. Without a DSP you will still have the OEM internal tune which is dog shit.

The 2018 Pro did not have the JBL system. I believe they changed in 19 along with adding the sunroof. I have a 2018 and agree, the system sounded terrible. I left the head unit alone, replaced the door speakers with Focals, added a small amp Alpine KTP-445U. These upgrades alone made a nice improvement. Shortly after that I added the JL Stealthbox and another Amp JL XD300. I think it sounds great now!
