Read up on brake rotors....go back to dealer and ask them what they mean by "warped"...if they dont give you a correct answer, tell them they owe some rotors that werent made from recycled rusted 2nd gen frames..

Call ToyotaUSA & raise some shit. You should get something from them.
They made a Dealer take back a new preTaco that I had put over 700 miles on because they lied to us.
If they would have given it to me at the price they said they wouldn't have had a "used" one to unload for less than they would have sold it to me for.

Warped brake rotors is a very rare condition. Rotors that grab hard at one spot and and release is more often the sensation that makes people believe the rotors are warped. While the difference is significant the outcome is the same, braking suffers and the owner wants it fixed.

So how do you stop pad transfer to the disk? The worst thing you can do is baby the new brakes, more often than not the ones that complain are those who took extreme caution to be easy on the brakes. They never get hot enough to cure the adhesive. Proper brake-in is the best answer, it doesn't take long but if not done correctly the pad surfaces glazes over and generate even more heat because you need to use more and more brake pressure to stop. More pressure leads to blackened glazed pads as the uncured adhesive cooks out of the pad material and is baked on the mating surfaces of the pad and most noticeably on the disk surface when you sit at a stoplight with hot gooey adhesive cooking into the pores of the cast iron rotors.

Most people will blow this off as bullshit and swear their rotors are warped.

Chinese steel is in everything. My plumber friend is always complaining how the brass fittings and copper pipe from China have a high failure rate. Same problem with name brand water heaters now made in Mexico with Chinese steel. Water heaters that used to last 25 years now last 5 to 10 years.

I did not take particular care to brake them in. I am taking the dealers word and did not check them. As an update they are going to replace the rears as well as wheel bearings?? Said it was some kind of service bulletin. They said it might help??? Seems odd that they think that would help and say the front are warped. I am going to wait until they replace the rear then see what it drives like.

Dude, the average brake life based on a poll awhile ago is over 50K and still rising. Toyota makes good brakes. See what happens with dealer but don't be afraid to start a case with corporate. Toyota brakes are better than many aftermarket.

The service writers and techs have no idea what they are talking about half the time. They just spit out what they think the customer will believe.... most even try to get out of doing the TSB that are currently out.
It could be quite possible the rear brakes and or wheel bearings are the culprit.

It is possible. I feel the shudder more in the brake pedal and not in the steering wheel.

So true. Called Subaru service department about what kind of gear oil to use on my Crosstek manual trans that shares oil with the front end. After talking with two techs couldn't get an answer if the Subaru gear oil has LS additives which can be bad for synchros.
