Was washing my truck and saw some little red dots on the doors, above the lower part of the doors. Took it back to the dealer and they agreed, its rust. I've had my truck 16 months. Anyone else see that on theirs? I thought it was just dirt so I got a clay bar and nothing happened, hence the dealer appointment. They had 5+ people come look at it, said it was weird. So it looks like a complete sand, correction, and respray is in order. SMH.

I have a few really small specs on mine. But I think it’s just contamination on the paint on mine as it’s on the rear bumper too and it’s plastic.

Rail dust from transport on a train?

One tech said that. Another said debris from a grinding wheel. Another said rocks from road spray. Another said it was from installing the running boards. Nobody has a clue.

AKA, rail dust. little metal flakes stuck in paint that have rusted. Clay bar should remove, may have to work it a bit harder. Make sure to use lube, such as detail spray. Caused by brakes and other metals which are left on roads by other vehicles. Auto's transported by rail cars also get this. Some members here also use Iron out, never tried that myself. All vehicles get it, most noticeable on light colors.

It didn't come out with a clay bar. That was my first thought.

IronX maybe...unless it's too far gone.

Sometimes you have to work it, over and over. Not a fun job. Also like Splitbolt mentioned.

This is something I never thought of. I had weird brown/rust colored "dust" in the corner of my 2018 bed and around the tailgate seams. I will find it in random spots the more I search. Wonder if this is the culprit.

I had a lot of these 'rust' spots on my truck. Washing and using a clay bar hard on them allowed me to get rid of them. Somebody also mentioned IronX, I have a buddy with a newer white truck who used that on his and got rid of them quickly and easy.

It's hard to believe that there would be REAL rust on the paint of a 2018 unless the paint got terribly messed up from the factory.

    Keep us updated OP!
